I’m not TTC or anything, but I love names! I think about future names a lot.
I really love older names. Nothing weird, but I do like names that not everyone has.
Right now I REALLY love Theodore, nickname Theo. Darling Husband likes it too. What do you think of when you hear this name? I don’t want him to be picked on, but I just think it is adorable and sweet, but can still be strong. I want to hear outside opinions though. And middle name suggestions?
I also LOVE Isla and Clara. I kind of would like to put them together: “Isla Clara D___” but doesn’t that sound weird? Too many “ahs”? Isla Clara is also a tiny island in Chile apparently (side fact). And since I love both names so much, I kind of would want to call her BOTH names. Like “Hey, Isla Clara. How was your day?” But it just doesn’t sound right to me.
Opinions? Suggestions? Does anyone else like these type of names? I’d love to hear them!

@Ms.Pink: you have very good taste! i adore Isla, and love Clara and Theo too. I’m knowhere near having kids but i like thinking about this stuff too 😉 i probably would have picked isla for a girl, but my fiance is french and i want our kids to have french names.

I really really love Theo. It’s a sweet name for a boy and I can definitely imagine an adult named Theo as well (that’s my test, try to imagine them as adults).
I like Isla and Clara separately but not together. I don’t like the double ah sound, either. My future child’s last name will end in an ah sound and there are some names ending in the ah that just sound weird with it.
Older sounding names that I love include:
Eli or Elijah
ETA: Oh and I forgot Francesca! I can never use it because its DH’s cousin’s name.

@peonia: I LOVE French names. My favorite is Elodie. I wish my Darling Husband would go for a french name!

@peonia: I love French names, too! What are some of your favorites?
@AstoriaK: Ahh I LOVE Eleanor. I would definitely not be able to have a Theodore and an Eleanor though, haha. Too chipmunky.
@AstoriaK: Elodie is GORGEOUS!

@Ms.Pink: Oh my gosh, haha yes that would be bad!

AH, I love names too, even though we won’t be TTC for several more years!
James (DH’s name)
Lucian (My mother hates this one; too close to ‘Luficer’ I suppose.) Nickname would be Luc.

we’re ttc in a few months so I like to think about names too 🙂 I’ve actually been thinking about Theodore as well–my dh had an uncle named that so it’d be a great family name to use. the thing is though, I really like both Theo and Teddy as nicknames, but I kind of hate Ted and I don’t know if that nickname could really be avoided with it! we have a few other boy names that we’ve talked about that are higher up on the list–we’ve picked Judah as our top name and I think Seth was high up on our list too. for girls, our top choice is Rosalie. we also talked about Noralee/Norah-Lee (spelling to be determined! I want to use Lee because it was a family name) but then family friends named their baby Nora and I think it’s out for us now 🙁 we’ll see though!

@finnaroo: How did I forget Rosalie! That is another one of my top names. I LOVE Rosalie Clara. I think it is so classy and beautiful. And I never though about Ted….I hate it too! Hmm. That is something to think about…
Noralee is soo beautiful! Wow! I don’t think you should toss it just because they named their baby Nora. It is so gorgeous!
Our family friends just named their daughter Magnolia Grey. I kind of love it, and would possibly use Magnolia in the future still…

@AcheneMalefic: I love Adelaide! Darling Husband hates it, though 🙁 Sofia is beautiful too! I have never heard Lucian before, but I really like it!

aw i’m glad you like french names! there’s a lot of lovely ones to choose from, but my current favourite for a girl is Elise. for a boy, Louis (the s is silent of course!). I also love Amelie but i’m sure i would get a ton of “ooh from the movie??” comments haha.
@Ms.Pink: oooh I love Magnolia Grey too! And also Isla and Clara (or Claire), I forgot to mention that 🙂 We have very similar taste in names!
I’m also not sure if I want to give up Noralee yet–there’s a song (Wilco’s “Hesitating Beauty”) that dh and I love that uses that name and has the sweetest lyrics, like “by the stars and clouds above/we can spend our lives in love/you quit your hesitating, Noralee” and it would be so nice to have a special lullaby just for her 🙂 (and if we had a boy named Judah, we’d sing him “hey jude” so they’d each have a custom song!) But Rosalie/Rosalee actually has more family significance so it might have won out in that fight anyway even if our friends hadn’t used it. But, when I found out they named their baby Nora my heart really did drop…
I also love Adelaide, or Ada, but dh vetoed it

@AstoriaK: Elodie is SO pretty! but our surname will begin with D so it would be a bit too “hard” sounding with the double D sound i think. damn.

My Fiance loves American History and would love to name a baby Theodore, but when I hear Theo I only think of this guy

Love Isla and Clara. I think they go well together too
