I am working on my table planner names – the ones the guests will look at when they’re finding out what table they’re at. To avoid any thoughts of “my name is higher on the list and therefore more important” everyone is in alphabetical order within their table groups – apart from my fiancé and I, who are at the top of ours.
My question is regarding non-married couples with different surnames. Would you still put them alphabetically regardless or put their names together somehow.

I’m actually doing ours differently from all these options. I’m going to start each table with the last name alphabetically, and then go around the table counter-clockwise with the names. So it might go something like this:

I think it’d be too much trouble if you don’t just separate them – if you leave them together and do it by whose surname comes alphabetically, people might not figure that out and have a harder time finding their name. But if you put the guys name first then *someone* is going to be offended…
