So I’m trying to wrap-up wedding details and decide to finally order Fi’s ring. I’m ordering it online (cause I’m cheap) plus he wants a very basic ring and buying in town is close to 5x more expensive than buying it from an American retailer. We already have the ring and inscription picked out, but I just wanted to double-check the inscription, just in case he changed his mind or wants to add to it (he wants my name and that’s it).
So it went like this:
Me: Hi honey, do you still want my name on your ring?
Fi: Yes. (He’s at work.)
Me: So you just want it to say Vitsippa?
Fi: Vitsippa Lastname!
Me: Wha??! You want it to say my first and last name?
I start cracking up and just have to post. He apparently doesn’t think it’s weird. Is it?

Hmm, it’s usually more common to put FirstName WeddingDate but if he wants your full name inscribed on his ring then why not! After all, there’s no rules 🙂

I think it’s a little odd, but hey, it’s his ring lol! A first name alone just feels more personal to me…

I agree – first name and wedding date. On my fiance’s ring, we put my first, his first and the date, 8/7/10. On mine, because mine is so small, we put just our first initials and 8/7/10.
The jeweler mis-spelled my name on his band so it has to get fixed. LOL

It’s his ring–I’d get it inscribed how he wants it.

Go for it- if it fits!- IT should say whatever he wants on his ring I suppose!

I don’t see why that is weird at all. Do whatever you want to do.

I find it funny … it’s like signing a birthday card with your whole name. I’m giving him another day or two, and if he really wants my whole name, then that’s what it’ll be. But I can’t help but giggle thinking about it

I agree with you, Vitsippa, I think it’s sort of goofy. Your analogy of the birthday card is exactly how I was looking at it! But…if that’s what he wants, he’s the only one that’ll be wearing it!
