I should be working, but it’s Friday, and I’m in full weekend mode and just wanna chit chat lol. So I’m wondering, do I have any fellow Nascar girls out there? I barely knew what it was before I met my boyfriend, and now 4 years later, I’m hooked! We went to Pocono in July and I can honestly say it was one of the top 10 best experiences of my life! We were two rows up from the track and just the sound and feeling when those cars whipped by for the first time was awesome! K loves that I love it and that we’ve bonded over something that is a passion of his! We even have our favorite drivers that we compete with every weekend. His is Dale Jr. and mine are Martin Truex Jr. and Kasey Kahne. (Yeah, I get two because they’re both so equally adorable!)
Who’s your favorite!?

Meeeeeeeee!!! Lol, same situation..I absolutely refused to go until my FH (boyfriend at the time) made me go…and now I’m hooked!
This is going to sound like I’m a raging hillybilly but I don’t care…I named my dog after my favorite driver, Carly (Carl Edwards). I also bought my FH tickets to the daytona 500 last year for Christmas. Oh and I won a trip to Las Vegas last year to go to the awards banquet.
I uploaded some pics of us at daytona and of me and carl 🙂

Aww I love that you named your dog Carly! And you don’t sound like a raging hillbilly lol. Carl Edwards is awesome!
K will randomly ask me why I like Martin and Kasey so much, and when I tell him “Uh…have you seen how hot they are?”, he just shakes his head in disappointment. lol I say that to get under his skin! I have genuinely liked learning the in’s and out’s of the sport and find myself explaining to people “It’s way more than cars going round and round in a circle for 3 hours!”

I don’t know that I’d call myself a “NASCAR girl” but I do enjoy watching on occasion and Darling Husband never really watched NASCAR before meeting me. I grew up in Indiana and my parents had tickets to the Brickyard 400 every year (and the Indy 500 for that matter). DH and I are going to the AAA Texas 500 in Fort Worth this November though!!

I grew up by the Charlotte Motor Speedway and to school with a bunch of race car drivers kids. When Dale Earnhart died, our school was closed for 3 days! I don’t really follow racing, but I LOVE going to races. They are so much fun! It is the best people watching ever… and who doesn’t love a sporting event where you can BYOB!?

My Darling Husband is into racing sports, and he used to watch NASCAR every weekend. He encouraged me to pick a car so that I’d be more into watching. I watched a race, and ignored everything but how they were driving. I decided I really like the 99 car. He didn’t win that race, but he also didn’t drive like a jerk. So yes, to this day, my driver is Carl Edwards. Still love him and think he’s a class act. It’s a little frustrating sometimes because he is VERY consistent. But very consistently second or third, or in the top five. He’s not going to win the championship, but he’s always in the race.
Lately though we’ve strayed from NASCAR into F1. NASCAR actually seems boring compared to F1! And I’ve developed a few favorites there too.
I think more women would really like racing sports if they understood that it’s not just a person driving in circles for hours. There is actually strategy and skill involved. It’s just more subtle than, say, football.

I love me some Jimmie Johnson! My FI’s bachelor party is at the Dover race this Sunday! He doesn’t know that 11 of his best guy friends are taking him!

beeillinger – I remember that race when Carl Edwards crashed into the fence. So crazy! I also always fall asleep in the middle when I’m watching on tv. lol
eeniebeans – What an awesome bachelor party idea! I’d love to do that for my guy when the time comes (maybe even send him to Talladega or Daytona). We don’t have too many friends that are into Nascar unfortunately. I hope your Fiance is surprised and has an awesome time!
