HOLY SHIIIIIIIT, IT HAPPENED!
Almost exactly 3 years ago, my boyfriend told me he loved me for the first time in Badlands National Park (awww, young love!). (Backstory: we met each other in college in 2010 and crushed on each other over the years but didn’t officially start dating until 2015.)
This past week, on the last day of our weeklong Glacier National Park vacation (lots of backpacking/hiking/camping/eating delicious food), we hiked a few miles to a mountain scenic point. Our friend who tagged along on the trip was taking pictures of us, when my now-fiancé dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him, and I said yes! I couldn’t feel any luckier or more grateful to make it official with my best friend. 🙂

I am in LOVE with my oval solitaire ring – Fiance picked everything out from a local jeweler in MN but knew I wanted a yellow gold solitaire setting w/ oval diamond. (FMIL let me know it is 1.4 Carats- I was totally expecting more around a Carat, but I love the longer/skinnier oval which gives great finger coverage.) Not sure what was spent. Band has been comfortable so far – the thin band seems really sturdy and fits perfectly (once past my big ol knuckles, haha). Luckily, my fingers weren’t too sausage-y at the proposal (they tend to swell SO uncomfortably when we go backpacking) and Fiance managed to get it on my finger. (And FWIW, when I researched oval diamonds previously, I wrote off any with visible “bow-ties,” but mine totally has one now and I love it just the way it is/don’t mind at all.)

Can’t wait to start planning and continue consulting the Bee!

So so sweet!! Congratulations!!!! We have a very similar story — Fiance told me he loved me for the first time at Sequoia National Park, we got engaged at Canyonlands National Park (at Mesa Arch, my favourite arch there!), and we are getting married at Yosemite National Park! We’ve been to 21 NPs together during the course of our relationship, so it’s a big thing for us too. So nice to hear of another couple whose romance has to do with NPs!
Congrats again, and best of luck with your wedding planning!!
