My Fiance is a Native American and we are doing a few things to celebrate his heritage.

An Apache Blessing (long verison) – http://www.prayers-for-special-help.com/apache-wedding-blessing.html#axzz23Yv7cDkM

7 step vows – Same link.

We’re also mixing sands together.

You can do a blanket ritual where the mother (or father) wraps a Native American blanket around you two after you’ve read your vows.

Here is another helpful website: http://www.ani-kutani.com/nativeamericanfacts/native_american_weddings.htm

Hope you two find some great Native ideas!

I believe these are what you are looking for…

Salish marriage blessing

Now for you there is no rain, for one is shelter to the other.Now for you the sun shall not burn, for one is shelter to the other.Now for you nothing is hard or bad, for the hardness and badness is taken by one for the other.Now for you there is no night, for one is light to the other,Now for you the snow has ended always, for one is protection for the other.It is that way, from now on, from now on. And now there is comfort.Now there is no loneliness. Now forever, forever, there is no loneliness.

Cherokee Prayer

God in heaven aboveplease protect the ones we love.We honor all you created as we pledgeour hearts and lives together.

We honor mother-earth – and ask for our marriage to be abundant and grow stronger through the seasons;

We honor fire – and ask that our union be warm and glowing with love in our hearts;

We honor wind – and ask we sail though life safe and calm as in our father’s arms;

We honor water – to clean and soothe our relationship – that it may never thirsts for love;

With all the forces of the universe you created,we pray for harmony and true happiness as we forever grow young together.

Native American Prayer

O Great Spirit, whose breath gives life to the world, and whose voice is heard in the soft breeze:We need your strength and wisdom.Cause us to walk in beauty.Give us eyes ever to behold the red and purple sunset.Make us wise so that we may understand what you have taught us.Help us learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.Make us always ready to come to you with clean hands and steady eyes, so when life fades, like the fading sunset, our spirits may come to you without shame.
