There is a lot of information in this post.  Maybe that will help a little bit.

Catholics have to get NFP training too. There are a couple of threads on the Catholic board that you might want to read through.

Another name for this is FAM (Fertility Awareness Method) and a great resource is http://www.tcoyf.com and the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I have used this method successfully to prevent pregnancy for 8 months and then for one month to achieve pregnancy and we conceived on the first try. I LOVE this method and will never go back to the Pill.

I used FAM, read the book and used http://www.Fertilityfriend.com to track temperature and cervical mucus. I prevented pregnancy for several months and conceived twice on the first try by having sex precisely during the predicted fertility days (one pregnancy ended right away). I trust this method for my body because my periods are regular. I won’t use any other method.

I’ve used FAM for about 1 1/2 years to prevent pregnancy. 100% effective so far (using condoms during fertile window, otherwise unprotected)! The biggest cons for most people are fear (what if it doesn’t work?), the discipline of keeping track (second nature after a few months), and the touchy-feely aspect (some girls are grossed out by their vagina…beats me). Those things don’t bother me and the pros far outweigh the cons.

Aside from being a cheap method and one that doesn’t involve artificial hormones, it’s also taught me a lot about my body and how to predict/deal with the different phases of my cycle. My skin is getting better and my cramps have pretty much disappeared with a little bit of foresight. I love this method and wouldn’t dream of going on the pill now that I know so much about my cycle! Definitely worth a try, IMO. 🙂

My husband looked at my like I was a little crazy when I told him we’d be using the NFP method between babies 1 & 2.  No way hozay am I going back on any hormonal birth control after this baby is born 🙂  Looking forward to it!
