Hi bees,
Happy New Year! Sooo I get my nails done faithfully every 2 weeks , but I get them pretty long and want a change. I love and need to have SOME type of length; however, when I see other women with gel nails that are short (acrylic) or their natur nail length I LOVE it.
Can you bees post your nails ?

Here are my wedding nails. It was a shimmery light pink shellac manicure. Sorry it’s not a great picture

I love love love all things manicure related! I get my nails done every couple weeks but I only do gel polish. I spent years trying to get nail techs to file my acrylics thinner so they didn’t look so fake and now I’m in love with gel polish.
I was a really big fan of square nails for a lot of years and then I started getting them filed into ovals/almonds and that made my fingers look longer and more graceful (IMO) than the blunt ends of the square.
I don’t wear my nails short- I prefer to have some length as well, but they’re usually just a few mm past my fingertips. This pic is my favorite length to keep my nails. I’m not sure what you consider natural- I do wear polish but no acrylics or gel powders, so I thought I’d toss mine in the ring.

I bet a slightly shorter almond shape or even a slight coffin shape would be beautiful on your hands.
ETA- I read somewhere that the “ideal” length for a nail is around 1.5x the width. I don’t know that that’s true for everyone but I have noticed that I prefer when my nails are at least that length or longer.

nicestbee04 : ladybug55078 : thanks ladies. I always thought” my hands don’t look nice with short or my natural nails” and especially with a ring. But so many women get their manicures and it looks so nice with their rings.

TwilightRarity : I love the length of your nails. I guess I like the ” natural nail look” cause some people actually have long natural nails. Unlike me lol my won’t grow after a certain length. So with your nails are you doing the overlay?

pink624 : No overlays. Just gel polish. I feel your pain, though. My nails are naturally pretty soft and thin but the gel polish provides enough support that I can wear them a little longer.

TwilightRarity : hmm maybe I should try that. The ovals shape does feel very natural to me too.

I switched from acrylics to gel polish, at first it was great for my nails but now they are just as thin as before! I also went from square to a round and I love it!

haileyblue : your nails look nice and with your ring. So now that your nails are thin have you considered a overlay?

This is the longest my nails can really get before they start breaking. My nails peel terribly so I don’t like how they look without polish.

pink624 : My nail beds are on the long side, so my nails tend to look long even if they’re cut short. Like others have said, my nails are pretty thin and pathetic on their own, but the gel polish enables me to grow them out with minimal breakage. I can finally have the long nails that I always wanted but once they started growing out, I realized I prefer them shorter. The irony! Lol

I’ve always just painted my own nails and have never had acrylics. This is the longest my polish has lasted (about a week and a half).
