We have decided on our reception venue & chose a location where we won a package that includes the entire reception space to be piped and draped with white as well as full uplighting. This is an idea that we LOVE but never really thought about because of the price. I have my hear set on having Navy Blue floor length linens with lots of candlelight and green accents. BUT the wedding planner at this location says that if we use blue uplighting it will all look too dark–so we should do WHITE linen. I hate white linen and don’t like the look of the blue lights making it look so winter-y (our wedding is early September) I have thought about doing green uplighting but would navy linens still look good with this?!
ANY PICTURES OR ADVICE IS SO SO SO MUCH APPRECIATED!

I would go with offwhite/yellow/gold/whatever-the-normal-light-colour-is uplights, to create a warm atmosphere. I think blue or green would be a little too much.

That does sound like it will get a little dark. We did blue uplighting for our room, and used the venue’s white linens on the guest tables. On our head table, we used a combination of blue and green linens, and blue linens for our cake table. That was our compromise! The lighting wasn’t exactly used in the way you’re thinking, though, since we only had 6 cans around the room, and there were tons of windows and outdoor light even at 7pm!

@pengoala: oh there will be no windows at all in this space so I do know it will for sure get dark with the lighting—that’s why I am almost thinking of just doing a soft amber lighting or a nuetral whtite. Maybe even switching to a blue or green farther into the night when dancing would really start? I just wish they would even have ivory linens for us to choose from that would make me feel better right there!

@emylyejean: ooh, I think a softer amber lighting sounds just beautiful!
