when i first read the subject i thought "navy blue and green" tons of stuff on J.crew with those colors…..But its all very nautical.  or Preppy – make you could make your wedding a "preppy" style wedding.

hmmm – maybe you could peruse some art books and see about taking inspiration from there?

I’ll keep thinking on that for ya!

We didn’t have a strict color scheme, but we used a lot of navy and green in our wedding.  Here’s some examples:

Our invitations were green and navy blue with brown birds.

Our tuxes had a blue paisly vest and the boutannieres had some small green accents.

I put a blue butterly in my bouquet. The flower girl baksets and ring pillows were navy blue and green. The flower girls’ dresses had a navy blue sash with a flower in  the back that head green leaves. My bridesmaids wore these Bari Jay lace dresses in Navy Blue. You can get the satin ribbon in green.

Hope that helps.  I still have a million inspiration pictures on my computer.  Maybe I’ll go through them and make a navy blue & green inspiration board.  It’s a color scheme that more and  more people seem to be using these days.

I know what you mean about navy and green being associated with preppy and nautical a lot. I’ve seen that too, but I like it. It’s a color combination I’m considering since the only for sure right now is navy.

Radish, if you make an inspiration board, I would love to see it. Your pictures so far have been lovely!

Our colors are white and green so no fear of the nautical look, but as as a Kelly Green bride I want to advise you to get as much kelly green stuff as you can now during St. Patrick’s day.   There was hardly anything kelly green around when I was planning during the winter/fall and now I’m seeing tons of dresses that would be good for bridesmaids, jewelry, etc.

What about a brighter green? Kelly seems very dark to pair with navy… what about more of a limey green?

I’m thinking about using navy as one of my colors too. I love it as an alternative to black and it always seems so chic. My one caveat is what to have the groom and groomsmen wear. Do you have them still wear black tuxes? *Radish* –> did you have your male attendants wear navy or black suits? I like the idea of just keeping them black, but I’m concerned about them clashing with the navy dresses.

I’d love to see that inspiration board you’re talking about making up!

I also had my bridesmaids in navy, and I didn’t think they clashed at all with the groomsmen in black!  In fact, my rehearsal dinner dress was navy and black!

Ah, crap.  Hold on…

We are using green and navy only with a bit of a twist. Rather than Kelly Green we are using Apple Green which has that citrisy summer feel we were going for. We are using Navy as the complementary color to tone down the brightness of the Apple Green and white to add as an aceent. Since we are getting married at a country club overlooking a very large lake, I’m moving towards Preppy as apposed to Nautical.

Plus the guys are very excited to not have to wear tuxes! They will all be getting Navy Blazers and khaki pants with matching apple green ties and pocket square. (No flowers for these manly men). There is a Knottie who has a gret picture of the Groomsmen in this same attire However I do not have a link to it. I have a picture however uploading it is not working out so well. If you have any questions, feel free to PM. Maybe we can shoot ideas off each other.
