I’m having a little color dilemma and was wondering how much your reception decor should match the color scheme of your bridal party? I’m doing navy dresses for the girls, and they’re going to have bright pink and white bouquets; however my Fiance and I are not really pink people, so we’re having trouble deciding on colors for the floral centerpieces at the reception. So far, it’s looking like we’re going to have a mix of bright summery colors (yellow, pink, purple, orange, green), but I hope it doesn’t clash or take away from the navy/pink theme I kind of wanted. We just don’t want a pink overload. Thoughts?

i love navy and pink! what about just using lots of white and silver? although, i’ve seen weddings with lots of colors and they almost always turn out beautifully…

It’s all about balance. The pink flowers should have a much higher ratio than the other colors, and the size of the flowers matter too. You would prolly lose the pink feel you want if you have giant purple flowers with teeny pink flowers. You might also want to consider the intensity of the colors. Maybe a softer pink would make you think less “pink overload”.
I actually know a bride who is doing the same color scheme as you and I think it will look amazing 🙂 Hope this helps a little!

Check out my picture threads, I had a navy and pink wedding.. We did the same thing for the bridesmaids, but alternated centerpiece flowers with pink/white flowers.

I LOVE navy and pink! If we weren’t sold on black dresses, I’m pretty sure those would have been our colors. I think other bright colors would work with navy, but you may want to tie them into your ceremony a little bit. Could there be other pops of color in the girls’ bouquets, or maybe in the petals on the aisle?

Navy and Pink are our colours too, but we’re doing blush pink rather than bright pink. I think adding purple would be lovely, and I agree with the PP about yellow, orange or green. I think it depends on the vibe you want. Some of those colour combinations are a bit more preppy and some of them are a bit more subdued.
if you haven’t seen it, you should check out this website:http://www.theperfectpaletteblog.com/

@tall_jenny:thanks, that site is very helpful…i think we are going to stick to navy and fuschia for the bridal party, cake, and other little wedding details, but incorporate a few bright colors into the floral centerpieces 🙂

I love pink and navy! Those were orginally the colors I wanted but then I realized they really didn’t go well at our venue.
