So basically I have now begun planning my wedding.
I am utterly torn between the navy blue and yellow and green and purple.
I can see both, I think navy blue may be too dark a colour, but with yellow it makes it classy.
Green (mainly) and purple are a nic combo as well, but it doesn’t stand out as much.
FYI it is supposed to be a garden great gatsby theme wedding.
What do you think?

Definitely navy blue but I would subsitute gold and champagne for the yellow as it will be more gatsby-like, elegant, and classier. Yellow is my favourite colour but I think it will look a bit too bright and sunny for what you are going for.

Depends what kind of green and purple you are thinking of. I automatically think Mardi gras lol. Post some inspiration images!

Navy and gold definitely. I also automatically think of Mardi Gras when I think of purple and green.

I vote green and purple, but that’s similar to what we’re doing so I’m biased. We are doing lavender, dark green, and navy. I didn’t want only two colors.

Wow! based on the oics I like the soft sage and purple the best but I really don’t like the color or material of the dresses in the last pic. So I vote soft green in chiffon and purple! Yay!

I do love the second picture you posted best. With green and purple I automatically thought “Wimbledon” but those pastel shades are gorgeous!

what happened to your other post about it being Gatsby themed?
yes I always wanted my wedding to be gatsby themed.
are u talking about the pics. I have only now started looking through and collecting. i haven’t really tailored the pics to the theme yet, been looking online all today.
i think i am creative enough to turn any color set in gatsby.
i should mention though in my head at least (my fiance isn’t board … as yet) i want it to be a gatsby garden reception. an outside, brunch, tea, pearls, champagne, typewriter kinda thing. the garden part is secondary for now only cause my fiance is more comfy inside and inside is suite to places in our proximity but anywaaaay… keeping my hope alive…i DID see this and thought it so great;

I agree with @courtneysokal in that you should change yellow for gold-ish or mustard, as it would fit so much better with the Gatsby theme.
Purple and green automatically makes me think of the Mardi Grass and/or The Princess and the Frog (both good choices, but very far from Gatsby).
If you’re afraid that Navy Blue would be too dark, maybe you can add some white details (feathers, napkins, flowers, etc.) to make things brighter.
Or maybe try something wild like: Ivory+Gold+Teal blue (Image just for reference)

A picture to illustrate my navy blue+gold+white combination (sorry for the double post)

I love I love, thank you for taking your time to provide those pics.
I totally agree with you guys with the gold and as an addition if i were to use the navy and yellow.
My fiance thinks the feathers are cheap so I will be using them to a minimum like on pen to sign in, on birdcage to put in msgs.
Another thing, we are definitely on a budget with the size of our family.
Let me show you guys some I was alo thinking of:

I say navy and gold or the teal and gold look great!

if you’re thinking of doing a garden party, I might look at the colors in the area where you’re doing the reception as a cue (i.e. is it very green? are there many colorful flowers, or are most flowers one color? is there a lot of water nearby?) and then pick your colors from there.
if you do that, the color scheme will flow smoothly into the venue, which means less decorating, which means more money saved. yay!
for me personally, green and purple make me think of the Joker, and navy and yellow make me think of primary school. I agree that navy/gold/champagne might be a better spin on that theme, and would read as both more adult/mature and more Gatsby.
alternate color theory: Google image covers of the book over the years and pick from there?
