I think of navy and black as both neutrals so it wouldn’t look weird to me. I think it’s fine. The navy you’ve chosen also looks like a definite blue on my screen rather than a blue-black (which would have the greatest chance of clashing). I like the yellow accents.

Fashion police say you can’t do black and navy blue together, but if you tie in/coordinate it in both, then it might work.

What colour are the Groomsmen vest/ties? You could tie in the navy blue there, no problem!

Took a look at the link. That dress doesn’t look navy, but more purple! You’re fine!

To be honest, I’m not sure how it would look. They are both so dark so that it may look like mismatched shades of black. I have seen navy dresses that are VERY dark. But if those are the colors that you want I say go for it.

When I first started considering navy Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, I had a similar concern. I think they look fine on separate people in the same group (ie., BMs in navy, GMs in black), but I would NOT have a groomsman in a black tux wear a navy tie then. My reasoning, like CaitMarae, is because often dark navy just resembles faded black and anyone who has ever made that mistake could understand why I wouldn’t intentionally pair them. But anyway — check out poster KellyV’s wedding page (scroll down a ways). She had the two colors and solved that problem by putting her GMs in black vests. Love it! I may end up with black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses after all, but if I stick to the original plan, I will be borrowing her look.

We’re doing dark blue (not quite navy) bridesmaid dresses and black tuxes so I think it’s fine. I do agree with the other bees that said not to put a navy vest or tie with a black tux though. I think a classic black bow tie would look best.

@panda this is exactly what I’m doing. Blue bridesmaids dresses, yellow flowers for the girls, and black tuxedos for the guys. I found these pictures that confirm that it will look awesome! My dresses are more royal blue, but  I think yours will look great too!

I’m having my bridesmaids in navy dresses but because we’re having a March wedding, I feel like black tuxes are too formal. I’m considering navy or gray suits instead. But from the PP’s pictures, it actually looks really nice together!
