Soon to be Fiance and I have been talking about getting engaged very soon and I would like to go with a nautical themed wedding using the colors navy blue and white. I also want another color to go with them as well as an accent color but can’t decide on what would look good. Any suggestions anyone? The wedding would be a spring or fall wedding, just depends how long it will take him to build up a month of leave (he’s in the navy). He wants to take off a full month to spend with me before/after the wedding and to allow time to appartment hunt.
Oh, and no gold or pinks. lol I’m not a big fan of those colors. Anything is else is pretty much a go.

Red, or green. Yellow or orange might be too close to gold, but it would be pretty. Red with a yellow accent along with the navy and white would look especially pretty.

A nice bold lime green would go nicely with navy and white, especially if it was a spring wedding. (That’s also a color palette that most dudes should be able to live with as “not too girly.”) I sound super seasonal, but I think that you would also do well with a burnt orange/rust or red for the fall wedding.
For either time, a paler, brighter yellow would work too. You could probably get some really pretty bouquets going there.

@35thannidaughter: *fistbump* We were clearly thinking along the same lines! 🙂

You can always try for a yellow, like a sunflower yellow or a pale yellow. That, or accent it with a lighter shade of blue, like a powder blue. Just stay away from any red unless you want a patriotic feel!

I like the idea of red for a true nautical theme, but I also love the idea of the yellow 🙂

Yellow/Gold looks great too:

Im doing navy and ivory – with accents in burgundy (flowers and cloth napkins) and silver (chiavari chairs, frames, table numbers).

I agree with Jessy727, going with red would be going toward patriotic colors and that’s not what I’m looking for lol. Those look great on the flag, but personally, not for a wedding.
As for orange and navy blue, I live in Alabama. The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind seeing those two colors together is the Auburn football team, and I do not need my dad’s family trying to bring up Alabama vs. Auburn. lol Sorry, I just don’t care for football.
Yellow it would depend on shade I think, my skin tone just does not look good on or even near gold or certain yellows. I know I’m just eliminating one color after the othere here, it’s aweful, I know.
Green would look good though. Just need to find the right shade that really appeals to me with navy. I was thinking maybe a soft green, not pastel by any means but not bold and in your face. If that makes any sense lol.
I was also thinking along the lines of a nice soft blue. I like that idea as well. Again just have to find the right shade. That seems to be the hardest part!
I’ll also be doing a little silver in there as well for any anchor decor. I’m going to for sure put small white chocolate anchors dusted in that edible silver powder. (the name of that stuff just escaped me. How frustrating! lol)

I agree with PP’s of a lime green sort of colour

I was thinking green or yellow… I thought red at first and then went NO, 4th of July haha…
I’m not home right now… When I am, I’ll try to look for some inspiration pics in both color schemes for ya 🙂 here’s a pic from a wedding I was in last year…. She used navy, with pops of yellow and aqua… It looked really great! You can see the shade of yellow she used on the MOH’s sash… I thought the BMs should’ve had aqua sashes, but I wasn’t the bride 😉 haha …. The flowers show some of the colors too 🙂 The bride made those out of silk flowers 🙂 we all wore yellow shoes too!

I love yellow, gray, or green with navy/white, with maybe some red accents for the nautical theme. I think a nautical theme with him being in the Navy would be really cool!!

Pale yellow!! Even bright yellow would look great!
