I have noticed that the last year has brought on about 5 pounds for no good reason other than I am…a year older. I will be 29 in July. And getting married in October. I really have not changed anything about my lifestyle (except moving in with fiancee a year and a half ago…) I work out the same amount (roughly 4 days a week – sometimes 3 sometimes 5). I drink much less than I used to and haven’t changed my diet much (though I have never been a dieter.) Anyone else encounter similar issues as they appraoch the big 3-0?

OMG! I was literally going to start a thread on the same topic today! I am 31 and have put on 3-4 pounds each of the last two years, despite eating well and exercising fairly consistenly. I had weighed pretty much the same thing since I was 18 (I am 5’7 and weighed 130 – am now about 138), and my level of exerice or what I ate never really changed my weight. I have always been a relatively healthy eater, but have never dieted, and have been a pretty regular exerciser. However, these pounds just showed up and being more diligent about my diet (more veggies, smaller more frequent meals) and changing my exercise routine (weights, pilates, running) have done NOTHING. I don’t feel fat or anything, but it is really annoying.

Sing it! I am a really petite person so it’s not a big deal, but I started thinking about this last night when I was looking at pictures of a year ago with envy (and I don’t recall thinking that I was in particularly good shape back then!). I find it hard to part ways with my beloved pizza, but that may be the only option if I want to look buff on my wedding day!

I’m going through the same thing! I tured 30 in September and even though I eat healthy most of the time and work out, I’m slowly getting larger. It stinks because my husband can eat what he wants and only has to work out half as often as I do.

Yes, I went throught the same thing. From 25 – 30 I gained about 8 lbs and from 30 – 35 I gained another 5 lbs. I got married in August, and have since gained another 10lbs! So, I have hired a personal trainer and I have started running again (I have not ran since I was about 22). My doctors tell me that I have nothing to worry about, and it is normal weight gain; apparently your metabolism slows down as you age. I don’t care, I’m still fighting it!

Hate to break it to you gals but it usually doesn’t get any better. I don’t like being pessimistic but I’m 34 and yep, the old metabolism machine starts breaking down…ugh!! When I was 18 I was about 128 lbs and now..sheesh–173. I don’t play sports like I used to but I feel like I’ve been thru alot since then too. I started going to the gym about a month or so ago and my weight hasn’t budged. I think my body is firming up before the fat starts burning off. I do an hour on the elliptical 3 days a week and circuit the other 2 days that I go. Hoping to see some change in the measurements if the scale isn’t going to move. Oh and on top of that, I don’t even look my weight.
Wedding is June 20th and I’m hoping for a 20 lb weight loss by then….is it gonna happen?!
