So I just found out I need TWO or THREE formal gowns for my new job. At my old one, it was okay to wear short really fancy cocktail dresses, so I have a bunch of those but I just found out that they need to be floor length gowns.
Just went to Macy’s and Nordstroms today and they didnt have a great selection and the ones they had were WAY too big and when I went to find my size online… they werent there.
I found a store Dress-up.com but they dont have a great return policy so that makes me nervous. Thought of bridesmaid dresses but they take SO long to order.
Any suggestions? Did I mention i get married in 6 days and have NO time 🙂

@nonapkns: Hmm…I usually like to shop BCBG at the Great Mall! I’m a pianist, so formal gowns are always something I’m on the hunt for. You could also try Jessica McClintock, maybe!
So excited for you that the wedding is SOON! 🙂

When do you need these dresses? They should be putting out all the holiday formal wear very soon. If you can wait a few weeks, there will be a bigger selection.

Where do you work? I’m considering a new career path. LOL! Jk 🙂
You could try David’s Bridal!

I work on a cruise ship so once or twice a week is formal night and we are switching to a fancier line.
And unfortunately I leave four days after Thanksgiving…though if i ordered one or two, my mom could probably send them to me.
@pengoala: Thanks! Though i am very excited but not as much as I thought I would be. And I keep waiting to get nervous and loose my appetite, but nothing yet 🙂 I will see how I am doing Friday.

@nonapkns: Thinking great thoughts for you all week! I’ve probably already told you this a few half dozen times, but don’t forget to take it all in! 🙂

I was going to suggest renttherunway.com, but I don’t know how that will work on a cruise ship since they give you a pretty short window for returning them. I don’t know if they have them where you live, but I think Lord & Taylor has more long dresses than the other department stores. Also check out a store like TJ Maxx–I got my prom dress there, and they might still have stock from homecoming season.
