Okay this part might be a little hefty, so if you want to skip the details, scroll down to the last paragraph!
How are you all doing tonight? My Fiance is asking his brother to be his Bridesmaid or Best Man equivalent. To clarify what this mean is that in his faith (eastern Christian Orthodox), we choose “Godparents” which is basically like a Maid/Matron of Honor and Bridesmaid or Best Man and they become the Godparents of our future children. Generally the groom picks his brother or a close friend to be the “Godfather” and if he is married, then his wife automatically becomes the Groomsmen. I’m not opposed to this as this is pretty standard in our culture and church and I still get to have my closest girl cousin actually be my Maid of Honor and do the fun planning stuff with me since we are blending both American and our culture. It’s been established that my cousin would be the Maid/Matron of Honor since we were kids, but my Fiance, his parents, and my parents all agree that we should ask my Future Sister-In-Law and Future Brother-In-Law to be the GP’s so we are going out to dinner with them in a couple of weeks to ask them.
My Future Sister-In-Law and I get along great and she is very lovely, though sometimes I feel like she can be IMO competitive with me and our Mother-In-Law which can hurtful at times. I am hoping that she and I can bond more over her playing an important role in my wedding, so I wanted to ask her in a special way to be my MOH/GM.
I’ve seen making a ring from a scrabble letter, but I was looking for something a bit more cute and feminine. Does anyone have any suggestions or willing to share how they asked their girls to be MOH/BM’s? I’d love to hear stories!
