What kind of flowers are you using?

The general rule for floral arrangements is that you want the height of your flowers to be slightly more than the height of your vase.

Depending on what kind of flowers you’re using, she may be thinking that it will looks funny, or if they need a lot of water, there honestly might not be enough room for all of the blooms and enough water to keep them hydrated.

@Miss Heirloom:  You’re right.  Hydangeas and roses are pretty heavy flowers, and have thick stems.  I would use something that is thicker at the bottom.  For as wide as the top of the vase is, you’ll need quite a few flowers to fill it, and the bottom just isn’t big enough to accomodate all of those stems!  Something like this would work very well:

Or, if you’d like something a bit more compact and lower to the table, a vase like this would work as well:

Though, I’m not sure how big the original vase is that you posted.

If you really want to use them, you could still have nice arrangements with fewer flowers.  I’ll take a guess and say 1-2 hydrangea, 5 carns, and 3-5 roses would fit in it comfortably.

@Miss Heirloom:  Wait, I guess I misunderstood you.  I thought she was making arrangements, not that you were going to just use the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets.  The vases you posted are perfectly fine for that purpose!

The top vase I posted I found through a google search, and the website doesn’t sell them.  I’ll keep looking for you!

@Miss Heirloom:  You could always go with the generic ginger vase:

They’re the standard vase you see arrangements made in, and would accomodate your Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets fine.  That’s what most brides use in my area for their Groomsmen bouquet/centerpiece combos.

As far as your other arrangements, my opinion is that she should be able to easily make centerpieces in the vase you posted and the vases I posted, short or tall.  Does she have any recommendations, or is she just saying she can’t do it?
