For some crazy reason, I’ve spent TWO HOURS researching “lace stencils” and anything related to that (do y’all know there is such a thing as a patterned paint roller..!? Google it. Amazing.)
Lets pretend I bought some cheap polyester round tablecloths and I adhered large lace stencils (or curtains or doilies or what have you) to them – spray painted chosen color over the pattern and let them dry. How do you think that would look when Ilet it dry took the lace off?
is that a terrible idea? If so, why do I feel like a friggen genius? Because its 1:30 am, probably.

@KRasco928: fabric paint could work if diluted? or fabric dye? i’d go to joannes fabrics or something similar and ask them

I don’t know… I feel like you would get a lot of blurred edges. But you could try it! What kind of pattern were you thinking? It might be a lot.

I do this, too, and the ideas seem so seductively awesome. Wait until the morning and a cup of coffee (or however you wake up your brain), think about it again, and make the call then. Even if you still think it’s a great idea, there would have to be much testing before the actual full blown project anyway.

How many tablecloths do you have to do? This may be a project that will take more time than it’s worth, especially since it likely won’t turn out to be perfect. It would probably be easier & look better to actually have a lace layer over your tablecloth.
That being said, I’d love to see it if you try it out!!

I used fabric paint on something and it ran underneath so I would be careful if you are looking to create a pattern and honestly I did not find any cheap round table cloths in my search, not ones I would be willing to ruin
