We are having a wedding of about 200 people. We are wanting to do cupcakes with a very small cake on top for our first anniversary. I think we are just gonna cut a cupcake for the cutting part as well. So my question is how many cupcakes? Should I do maybe like 250 so everyone can have one with some left over or should I do more or less? Thanks In Advance

@MrsGorsuch2013: I would recommend having 1 per guest. Not everyone will take a cupcake, so you may have left overs. If you are wanting to have a few extras for you and your husband to share after the wedding, just order an extra 4-6 cupcakes (or however many you would like to take home) and put them aside.

Our 140 guests got through over 280 cupcakes/slices of cake! It was our dessert too and we did have them laid all out. I’ve been to other weddings where i just had one as it was handed out on a tray.

Our baker recommended 2/person. However, we are also doing a huge sweet table and will just add the cupcakes to the sweet table rather than formally serving them, so we went with just 60 for 150 guests because we have so many dessert options. If you aren’t serving another dessert, I would serve at least 50% more than guest. I could easily eat 2 cupcakes- especially if there is more than one flavor. However, if your venue is also serving dessert I think many people would skip cupcakes too
