I need new eyesahdow. The palette I have now (Stilla – In the Garden) is roughly 5 years old…well beyond the recommended usage life for makeup.
So…I’m in search of a new one. I’m seriously leaning towards the original Urban Decay Naked Palette but before I commit I’m looking for other suggestions. The Tarte – Tartlette Boom and Amazonian palettes also look intriguing.
I’m generally a Stila & Smashbox fan and the majority of my makeup collection is from those brands (but my fave mascara is Urban Decay) not that any of that matters…
Just looking for recommendations!
(Oh – and because it sort of matters, I have brown eyes, fake auburn hair and a fair complexion but more olive than rosey)

MsGinkgo: go with the original urban decay naked. It’s my favorite I’ve had that one for years

I love UD Naked 2. I always find myself reaching for it.

I have 3 Naked palettes (please don judge me 😭) My favorite is the third one but the 1st one is the best for starter.

I have the 3rd one of Naked palettes and omg so love it

Any of the Urban Decay palettes are good choices. I’d go to a store and check them out and look at the colors in person. They are my hands down favorite.

It kind of depends on your undertone: Naked is neutral, Naked 2 leans cool, Naked 3 is warm and perfect for green/hazel eyes, and Naked Smoky is cool. If I had to pick one, I’d go with the original Naked.
But, my favorite palette has to be my Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye palette. It’s all neutrals, so definitely work appropriate. Another favorite for work is the original Tartelette, but it doesn’t blend as well as KVD. KVD Monarch is also gorgeous. And Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes are also pretty fab.

Love love love the Naked palette!

I’ve bought the original naked palette twice in the last six years! I just love it. But I was also really interested in Tarte’s Amazonian Clay matte neutrals palette and their In Bloom looks lovely.
I am a warm-toned, green-eyed auburn ginger.

I have a ridiculous amount of makeup and own nearly every palette mentioned so far. I recommend UD Naked 1 and Tarte’s Tartelette palette, with Tarte edging ahead of UD. UD Naked has a lot of fallout with the eye shadows, especially from glitter, and this is not fixed even using an eyeshadow primer (this is true of all their palettes not just UD1). So there are a few shades which are completely unwearable. However you can make a lot of day AND night looks from the palette. The Tartelette shadows are easily blended, creamy, and long wearing, but the shadows are all matte. So if you like a little shimmer this may be a con for you. The colors are neutral and lovely, and can also go easily from work to play.
I would really suggest seeing these in person so you can swatch them and decide which UD or Tarte palette will work better for you, since each have several. Or you may see something else!

MsGinkgo: I have UD Naked, Naked 3, and Smokey. Love them! You can get a matte neutral mini UD, if you like to sample them. And they stay on without primer. At least for me.

Marc Jacob’s “Lolita” palette is amazing if you like neutrals.

I have the Naked Palette and Tartelette…I love them both but the Tartelette is matte so I find it more versatile for everyday. Half of the NP is shimmery and it’s very pretty but a bit much for day.
