Saturday, I’m going to a military ball. Problem is, I have NO IDEA what to do with my hair!!! I usually wear my hair down (I blow dry it straight), or up in a pony tail. Yep…I’m REAL inventive…. :/
I’m going to have to do my own hair for this, as I haven’t booked anything at a salon ahead of time. Does anyone have any ideas for a REALLY easy, yet appropriate hairstyle that I could try? I feel most comfortable with my hair down…but don’t know if that “normal” style would look ok for this event… Here are the styles I’ve “attempted”
1. Straight and down:
2. Half up with curls
3. Braided into a bun (sorry, all I have from this style is an old pic that I played around with in a photo-editing program, so it looks a bit weird):
And…here’s the dress (please excue the crappy cell phone pics):

I think the braided style would look really nice and then maybe do some soft curls to frame your face.

What about something like this?
It would pretty easy. Just do a side pony and then twist and bobby pin your hair into a bun to cover the elastic.

Thank you all for the suggestions!! I’m going to have to try a few of these out…they look so pretty in the pictures!! I love the “messy updo” look, as well as the curled looks. I just have REALLY thick, heavy hair so I’m not sure how to 1). get curls to stay or 2). get things to stay “up.” I haven’t found a good hairspray to hold curls (or should i be using mousse???). Gyah…I feel like an amateur when it comes to hair!! I’ll curl it, then it will fall flat after about an hour or two….how do you get the curls to stay??

@pinkandsparkly: Thanks for the tutorial link too!! I hate that I am so intimidated by trying new styles….the “ponytail” or “down” fashion rut has been around for too long for me!!

I love the look of down with curls for beautiful, thick hair like yours!

Have you tried curling your hair with a sock? I know, sound really weird but it works! Check out below on how to do it.
