Hi hopefully someone can help..I am not the bride but my niece/God Daughter is. Her wedding was all scheduled to take place this August 2nd, everything booked and paid for. Thursday we got some very bad news….We meet to go over a game plan at the barn venue she had rented and were told that a city counsel member in the area is trying to force the place to close. They were told no more weddings Or they will be fined and the renters would be fined Heavily. This is the Octagon House and Barn in Romeo Michigan. It is a beautiful historical house and barn, they have been having weddings there for around 7 years to help with their upkeep. They are nonprofit and the place and land are tax free of course. This man KNOWS if they stop having weddings there it could hurt them and that they may be forced to sell. They rely on donations, school tours, small group tours, the occassional event, and weddings. All that being said we could try to fight it but the wedding was to take place in 62 days, we don’t have time to worry about it! Sigh…my heart hurts for her This is supposed to be the best times of her life right. She is looking for a place to hold 150-200 guest, hopefully where she can bring her own caterer and bar in. Any suggestions or contacts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Oops, she is in the Chesterfield Area, if that helps.
