I would like one of the trees. I really love the look of the moss and seed in the clear box with a ribbon to match your wedding color(s), but it would be nice if it came with instructions on how to plant it, since I’m not known for my green thumb.
I also like the seedling of the evergreen, especially since it’s already a small tree as it is and not just a seed. However, I would prefer to plant a different kind of tree in my yard than an evergreen.
Overall, I just really like the idea of having the tree to watch grow sort of like your marriage; and it’s also longer lasting.
Otherwise, I would rather have an indoor potted plant of a different sort, like maybe flowers or something.

Another idea, if you decide not to go with plants, would be something like chocolate-covered sunflower seeds in a cute package, to channel your love for gardening. Edibles are usually cheaper and people always love edible favors. They sell them at Whole Foods in bulk, and you could package them in cellophane bags with a cute tag.

I’d leave all of your favor options on the table. Anything I have to keep alive or will need to purchase additional stuff to make it look good in my home will not be taken home with me.
Given that you plan to display them on guest tables I would pick the plant you think will look best as part of centerpiece decor. Succulents are my fav though!

Could you do a mixture of baby trees and succulents? That way people could pick based on their comfort level.

@Atalanta: Edibles are always an option. We are having a chocolate truffle bar, so I wanted to do something extra besides another edible.
@Mrs. Wallaby: Exactly what I was thining about the jade.They also have been thought of as “lucky” plants for a long time, by many cultures. We have a greenhouse. We wouldnt mind any extra plants. If i had the time I would grow herbs… or even lavender, because if those die they still could be put to some use. We also plan on having little take home boxes for them. So it wont be very cumbersome to take the smaller favors home. The boxes we would have handed out towards the end of the night. We are also having a chocolate truffle bar, so those who hate plants have an option as well.

I would love a succulent! I think any of the indoor ones would work better than something that needs to be planted outdoors. We know quite a few people who live in apartments or condos and wouldn’t be able to plant something.

@SparkleBee11: it’s not that I WANT to throw out a baby tree – I live in an apartment building – where am I going to plant it. I might get it to grow in a pot for a few years, but probably not. FH and I got them a few years back at a wedding and intended to plant them at his family camp but it took 2 days before we could get there and the saplings had died in that time 🙁

@SparkleBee11: Yeah definitely let your Fiance know that several people (like me) would take the tree to be polite and then promptly wind up killing it. Not even succulents survive my horrible gardening! It would be really sad to send all those trees to their deaths, not to mention a massive waste of money.

I think the mini pine tree would be the best choice, so you can plants whatever ones get left behind!
(And I would leave it behind… I try so hard but my house is where plants go to die…)
