So we booked a jazz band for the reception, and they promised to play some funk rock stuff after dinner is over, but now I’m afraid people won’t dance.
My Maid/Matron of Honor said that she thinks people won’t dance to a band vs. a DJ, but I don’t know what to do! I love the band, and I thought of getting a DJ for the second half, but that’s going to raise the costs so much, and I’m trying to keep it low budget.

i think that people will dance from a band as well.. .do they have singers, etc?

If people want to dance and the music is good, they will dance. There are a lot of platimum weddings on TV that just have a band and there is still a lot of dancing. It just depends on what kind of music they are playing. Ask the band what type of music they play that they have seen people dance too and have them incorporate some of that music along with the music that you have already picked out.

It probably depends largely on the style of music they’ll play. Can’t you talk to the band and ask them about their experiences?

Yikes, I hope people dance–I’m having a band as well! I’m not sure why she said that…from what I’ve heard, having a band (as long as it’s not a cheesy, wedding singer-type band) is just as good as a DJ in getting people on the dance floor.

live music is always better in my opinion!! i think people will dance, a band can interact with the people and as long as its good music everyone will enjoy it! if i could afford a band i would love to have one too! we are doing karaoke instead!
