So wedding was set at a facility that we could afford and bring our own liquor in (which is a must because we can not afford an “open bar” anywhere and I dont want to have my guests pay for drinks. Date was set for a Saturday.
Well I just found out that my brother (who is a groomsmen as well) has to work and will not be able to get off.
The facility is completely booked for every Saturday night through 2011.
So now I don’t know what to do… this sucks!
Any advice?
My only other thought was maybe do a Friday night wedding? We are having a cocktail reception with a buffet and it is an informal wedding.
Has anyone ever had/been to a Friday night wedding? How was the turn out? We are thinking 630-7ish so I am thinking people will be off work for the most part but I have never been to one so not sure…
If you have, how was it? especially compared to a Saturday night wedding?
Any other options you can think of?
Please let me know your thoughts.

I’ve gone to a couple Friday night affairs and also Sunday night weddings. My brother’s was a Friday night, ceremony started at 6ish I think? It’s hard to say if that kept down the numbers or if my dad’s side just isn’t interested in going to extended family weddings. … these people are also invited to mine and I’m hoping they don’t come so that I can invite others. If you’re going for informal, then maybe a Friday night option will work better. Plus it leaves you more time over the weekend for afterparties.

Our wedding was on a Friday night, and we had very good attendance – the only people who couldn’t come wouldn’t have been able to even if it was Saturday. Go for it!!

I love the idea of a Friday night wedding! No worries! I think your biggest obsticale would be your wedding party having to take time off work! It would be difficult to decorate, Help the bride get ready and get everything done in a few hours without time off.

Our wedding is on a Friday and we haven’t run into a bit of negativity about it, people are really excited!

I think I would prefer a Sun afternoon, especially if I had to travel. But if most of your guests are in-town, a Fri night gathering would be nice.
