We are getting married on this balcony with the guests looking up at us. I am looking for some advice on how to decorate the balcony to make it pretty, but not too “wedding-y”.
We are getting married a little before sunset, so it won’t be dark yet. And I would like to hide the door in the back ground for pictures…
So, I was thinking tulle or something like that hanging over the door with twinkle lights behind it, but this sounds a little frilly. And some sort of garland hanging on the front of the railing.
Any ideas would be great!

You could do some pipe in drape up there or even hang a curtain straight across the door in a fabric that matches your wedding. I do have a logistical question, how would you arrive up there to get married while still hiding the door? If it is blocked with draping or tulle and lights you won’t be able to exit through the door. You could also do a monogram banner hanging from the overhang.

You could make a room divider with antique doors, and use it for a background.
Place it in front of the door you want to hide, just far enough forward so you can come through the door to the balcony.
for the balcony, a garland like this:
