I got married 8 months ago and when my husband proposed he wanted to give me a bigger center stone but he didn’t have the money. He promised that as soon as he gets the job he wants he will swap the stone for a bigger one. It looks like he is getting that promotion very soon and he asked me if I also want a second wedding band. My engagement ring is 0.5 carat total weight so the center stone is a princess cut 0.25ct, I would like to have the 0.5 ct. The band is 0.25 ct tw of princess cut channel style diamonds. What do you think ladies?

I think a .5 would look lovely but another wedding band might detract away from it.

@MrsLopez: I think that would look beautiful. Perhaps you could have your original engagement diamond reset and wear as a RHR (or as a necklace) rather than getting a second wedding band. That way you will always have a keepsake from his proposal, but still have the upgrade you desire.

I like the upgraded centre stone idea, but I think a second wband will really detract from the look.

I’m in agreement with the other ladies. If you’re looking to upgrade, then I’d upgrade the center stone and avoid getting a second band. It will clutter and detract from the engagement ring.

Agreed on the bigger stone – your rings are so beautiful as is though! But so nice that he wants to do something special for you =)

Thank you very much for your opinions! I agree with all of you, a second wedding band is going to be too much so I will upgrade the center stone. Thanks again!

@MrsLopez: just beautiful, i have a smaller size e ring(.45 ct) myself and love it. i would get a bigger center stone and not another band. the extra band would take away from the beauty of the e ring.
