Ok, so my wedding date is June 2, 2012. I planned on ordering my dress this june (one year before). However, I just found out two weeks ago that I’m pregnant so when I go to get measured in June to order the dress, I’ll have a belly and the size will be off.
Should I get measured for the dress now, that way when June comes they’ll have my measurments to order it. Or should I wait until after I have the baby in October to order it (7 months before the wedding). The average time for a dress to come in is 4-6 months right? I’m just a little nervous about ordering the wrong size to having to pay a bunch extra on the alterations if I can lose the baby weight.

I’m not expert, but I would get measured now. If you find a bridal salon you like, you can have them measure you now (and have a good idea of the dress/designer you want), and they can keep it in your file. Seems like the most practical to me. The only way this wouldn’t be practical would be if you couldn’t lose the baby weight.

Yeah, I’ve already had the dress picked out for a few months and I know which salon too. Or maybe order one size bigger incase I can’t lose the weight? and then if I get back to my size they can just take it in. That’d be better than letting it out.

I would talk to the salon and ask what they recommend. I’m sure this isn’t the first time they have had this question. More than likely they will recommend you wait until after the baby is born to order the dress, though it will vary depending on the designer.

I would probably wait until the baby comes, see how much weight I would lose and then go choose a dress 🙂
