- Wedding: October 2013
Hi all! I am a total newbie to the site and this is my first post, so I’ll try to make it short and sweet. My fiance and I just picked our ceremony/reception site last weekend, but I had a few questions for you guys. God knows the fiance has no idea!
We live in South Florida, so we’re getting married in October of 2013 (the fall so our guests don’t melt) at a beachside resort on a hill overlooking the ocean, under the seagrape trees. Then the reception is in the hotel ballroom which is pretty standard. No windows, dark wooden beams, neutral walls, and dark green carpet. (I promise it looks better than the picture below!)
My first question is, how do I have a wedding on the beach without having a beach theme? We don’t want sand dollars, starfish, votives in sand with shells, etc. My style is actually more rustic/garden party/casual, but I’m not sure how to make that come through without clashing in the beachy environment.
My second question is, what color scheme do I go with? I originally liked shades of grey and yellow with white but now I’m also liking navy and coral since it fits the beachy feeling of the resort. And I have no clue how to make it all work in the ballroom since it’s so different than the ceremony site. Please help me!!
