- Wedding: July 2011
Hello bees! Long time, no see! I was married in July 2011, and relied soo much on this community that I now turn to you for advise as a bridemaid/officiant!
My best friend has asked me to officiate her wedding, as she did mine. I also have been asked to keep my dress in the same style/color scheme as the bridesmaids. BF is having rustic/shabby chic barn wedding with neutral tones-grey, dusty pink, creams, browns.
I live out of state and decided to get to it on the parameters set by the bride (she originally wanted everyone in mis-matching pink or grey with no preference). I picked out this stunner in Mercury at DB (with her approval)
I was the first to pick my dress, and went ahead and ordered it. She took the girls out a few weeks later and went dress shopping and chose the EXACT SAME FABRIC AND COLOR, not remembering what I purchased lol! She also decided that all the girls wear the same color and satin, but can choose different strapless dresses in short length. So she has requested that I look very similar to the other girls but still set myself apart for the ceremony (but match in pics and at reception.) So she requested I wear a jacket or bolero. No black, no white (obviously), no lace.
I am on a major budget and am driving myself CRAZY trying to find the right type of jacket. She said it should be dusty rose/pink, grey, or ivory (ivory is too warm for the cool tone of the dress, already ordered 2 boleros and have to return)
I am thinking of doing a pewter satin bolero and accessorizing with lighter grey and/or pink flowers? I have seen a few boleros I LOVE on etsy, but they are too much to splurge on with all the other costs (airfare, etc) and I won’t wear again most likely.
Here’s the ones I adore and can’t afford:
And this is kind of what I’m leaning toward purchasing and jazzing up:
The bolero above is only a single item on ebay, and I would need to snatch it up pretty quickly. I would have to dye lace to get the pink effect or grey effect, and she really doesn’t want any lace in the attire.
This seems like a minor detail, but she is quite particular about her vision, and being her officiant I am going to be in all the most important pictures! I need to look awesome!
Oh, and we all are wearing cowboy boots, the bms are wearing some shade of brown, this is what I Purchased (in pewter)
(Sorry for the large picture size!) I am looking to my bees for input and suggestions! I need to get this purchased so I can move onto saving for 3 plane tickets and all the other wedding essentials! Thanks in advance!
PS, links are welcome as suggestions! I am looking at under $50 for the bolero, less the better!
