We went last night to pick out the tuxes. Originally I had planned on black tuxes with the horizon blue vests/ties. It wasn’t until we got there they told us the groom is supposed to wear something different to stand out. So we had a few ideas but not sure what we like best…See my fiance is a big Michigan fan so he really wanted to do a Michigan tie. All I’ve been able to see online are more a navy color. I don’t want that b/c it won’t go with the horizon color. But then we were thinking maybe he could wear a white vest and we can find a Michigan tie that will really pop. But it might be “too much”. Did your groom wear something different to stand out?

groom is wearing orange tie. grooms men plum ties plus the boutineers will match the female they are walkin down the aisle with… groom- orange rose purple stock boutineer matches my orange and purple bouquet. groomsmen will have orange and white boutineers with bridesmaids orange and white bouquets. officant is having an orange rose..

My wedding isn’t for aother 21 months or so, but my Fiance works in a tux store when he’s not teaching… so he’s had them picked out already =P
He is wearing a light brown vest and a burnt orange tie, it sounds really weird but it looks great together. The boys are wearing burgundy wine colored vests and ivory ties. Obviously we still have time to change it, but he likes the way it looks together.

My husband wore a white vest and white tie under his black tux, while the groomsmen wore black vests and red ties. My husband also wore a different color of rose as his boutonniere.
Our reasoning: I would be in all white obviously, with red roses and a few white calla lilies in my bouquet. So we put my husband in a white vest and white tie, with a red rose bout. The bridemaids wore red dresses and carried red and yellow roses, so the groomsmen wore red ties and had yellow rose bouts.
If you don’t want the tie to pop too much, could you save it for the reception and have a normal white tie for photos and the ceremony? I’ve also had friends who guys were die-hard sports fans, and they wore socks featuring their favorite teams instead!

@Gemstone: That’s a great idea to save the tie for the reception! I never thought of that !!! I like the look of all white for him as that looks a lot more classy and matches me. But to have a little more fun is perfect for the reception! and great idea for the socks too, thankS!!!! 🙂
