Okay, so the dilema is that the place I am having the wedding at has an ugly green wall. We aren’t allowed to table anything to it but there is a way to tie something to either side. So I am looking for cheap/but not tacky altar decorating ideas? Basically my altar area is underneith a window, that is a 12 foot space. The place I would tie them on is behind the lights. Uhh…I am still stumped and my wedding is on the 24th of March.

Somehow that wall doesn’t look green to me, but maybe it’s just the darkness in the photo. What about tulle draping? You could do this in whatever color you’d like, and if you were so inclined, you could put flowers at each hanging point, maybe off of the lights?

@nicolejoshwed: I am going to toss out a few ideas…
Room dividers (the pre-made) or homemade lattice with hinges.
Curtains with rod. Just suspend the rod from ribbon/fabric/ties (it can be done so no one sees the ties) that you tie behind the lights. If you do this I would recommend lightweight lace or sheer. Against the wall they would not look sheer.
Two/three archways with fabric draping between them.
I’m afraid that is all I have, most the ceremonies I do are outside (yes, even in the winter in Oregon. Couples still love the outdoors for their ceremonies.)
Sorry I can’t be of more help.

I’m confused it there going to be an altar? What does it look like? Or are you just refering to the end of your aisle?

@Zusie: under the window, the space is 12X10, so I need to spruce up that space, to cover the wall!

You could use some sort of rod or fishing line to hang garland off of to make a curtain. Martha Stewart’s website had a really pretty one made of tissue paper garland. I think they look pretty in all white or in colors so it’s pretty versatile.
I couldn’t find the original post on Martha Stewart’s site, but the second picture on this link shows what I’m talking about:
