We met with our Music Director at the parish this past weekend, regarding our full Catholic ceremony mass in May.
I was happily SUPRISED to hear that there are NO restrictions regarding music at our Church, meaning, we can pick any song/music and not just liturgical music. I was pleased that they are allowing us to ‘mold’ our ceremony thru music that represents who we are, and yet, immediately stressed out at the endless possibilities!! Here are further details for you, in hopes you can give me some great suggestions/ideas, because I cannot narrow it down to save my life!
* Cost of musicians is determined on what we want or need. I am thinking most, if not all songs will be played instrumental via pianist, guitarist and maybe violinist.
* Some stuff ‘I know’, so please see below.
* We LOVE country – as if there are not enough perfect love songs in that genre.
I need the MOST help with precessional music (while people are being seated), and processional song for my bridal party. I think for other aspects of our ceremony we will utilize liturgical music, because I actually enjoy some songs in that category!
I am walking down the aisle to Canon in D. Our Unity Candle portion will have “The Prayer” played (sentimental reasons), and our recessional will be a surprise bagpiper to parallel our Irish roots!
YOUR TURN 🙂
