Okies.. so Darling Husband and I get a DATE NIGHT!!! YAY.. as we just found out that our church does a monthly date night where we can drop of the munchkin for childcare from 630-1000 =)
Now…. Darling Husband and I are definitley on a tight budget and going “out” really isn’t something we’ll be doing…
BUT I love date nights in!
I was thinking of maybe a special meal… maybe something we can make together… any ideas on something that doesn’t take a TON of ingredients but that we could make?…
Or maybe things we could do to just spend time together at very minimal cost?
Thanks In Advance ladies

@runsyellowlites: Check and see if there are any free concerts/events in your area. You could pack a picnic basket of munchies, a bottle of wine and a blanket and sit outside listening to music.

@KatNYC2011: That would be great!.. We live in a smaller city though so not very much going on. lol
How do I get this moved to another section? I didn’t mean to post it to Beehive.. maybe to Relationships?…

For date nights in, I like to make pizza and rent a movie.

We love cooking together! How about cutlets? You need the meat, eggs, flour and bread crumb. It’s fun to get your hands dirty together. Just alight salad as a side. Definitely wine if that’s an option (considering your munchkin).

Date nights are the best! I would rent a good movie and set up a tray of some easy appetizers, like crackers, good cheese, fruit, and wine. Or do a cheese fondue and use veggies, cubes of bread, etc. You could even do a chocolate fondue and strawberries.

my favorite date night is getting in jammies, ordering in chinese and throwing our big comfy down comforter and tons of pillows on the floor in the living room and watching a movie together. some pints of ice cream is always a plus too.

Me and my husband love to play board games or cards. Scrabble and Rummy are our two favorites. We also have nights when we stay in and play around on youtube. I know it sounds weird, but we will pull up favorite childhood cartoons, theme songs to shows, or funny clips that we have heard of/seen lately and share them. We literally can make an entire night out of doing this, it’s free and we have loads of laughs! We also like to go on long walks or bike rides – that can be done any time of the day really.

I love to bake and Darling Husband loves to ‘try’ and help! Pick out a pretty easy recipe online and make cupcakes or brownies together! He can stir the batter and lick the spatula! 🙂

I would say do a picnic! I find that when SO and I stay home together.. TV is usually involved.. its good for couples to get away from that 🙂

I 2nd (or 3rd) the picnic idea! That’s what I was going to suggest. Take whatever you have around– cut up fruit, make sandwiches, crackers and cheese, it’s sooo nice to focus on each other enjoying a beautiful evening. I agree with the pp that stated sometimes you get caught up in the TV and then your night is gone! Maybe alternate going out/staying in now that you found a great sitter service at your church.

Another romantic (free!) one is walking the pier. Do you have a lake/water/beach/pier near you?

GREAT ideas ladies!!!!!!
Darling Husband actually mentioned learning how to make pizza the other day so that might really work!
We don’t watch TV so that won’t be an issue for staying in and Darling Husband works out doors so he may not be too apt to going back out into the heat (here in South Texas it’s hott day & night in the summer)
Maybe we could combined the pinic idea for some comfy blankets & pillows in the living room and snacking and eating like that! hehe
Great Great ideas for sure!!!!!
