We wanted to look like ourselves, and have us be the focus rather than our outfits. Very casual, but nice.

I chose mine just based on colours and fabrics I liked. Um, you can just ignore the zombies.

For ours we went with dark wash jeans, plaid button-up shirts, and converse! (These are outfits we wear often and love! We chose plaids that didn’t have any of the same colours so that they wouldn’t appear too matchy/clashy.)

@Msmay14: Love the zombie theme! DH is super obsessed with zombies right now and is planning for a zombie apocalypse.

Pick your outfits to match your theme/location. We took ours in an elementary school since that’s how we met (childhood sweethearts).

@Msmay14:  love the zombie idea! I saw another shoot like this on pinterest – so awesome. Since I live in Vancouver (like you!) I have an emergency kit filled with food/water etc in case the “big one” hits us someday (we are primed for a huge earthquake they say!) but I like to call it my “zombie apocolypse kit” instead haha.

@mstellah – I too also love your blazer! Do you mind me asking where you got it from?

Here’s our first photoshoot our friend did. Only one outfit. We’re doing some with our photographer next month and am still looking for outfits for those

We’re having a retro early 1960’s/Mad Men inspired wedding, so we wanted to set the tone with our engagement photos. We had SO MUCH FUN!!!

My advice is to think about a few things before taking your photos. Remember:

-You will most likely put these photos everywhere. Most normal people don’t get a lot of opportunities for professional photo shoots, so you’ll keep these photos on display for a while. Think of colors that you will want to have on your wall/table tops. Most brides keep it to their wedding colors.

-Your photos should set the tone of who you are and what your wedding represents. make it fun, make it personal, but also- make it timeless. Current pop culture references are one day going to be cheesy or nonrelevant (“Mom, what’s Gangnam Style?”). I look at engagement photos the same as film posters- they are a beautiful way to forever remember who you were BEFORE marriage and what you’re bringing into your marriage.

Since we were going for a classic 1960’s inspiration, we chose diners and a historic southern california town square as our backdrops. I styled the wardrobe/hair/makeup.
