- Wedding: September 2012
Sooo I bought a sample Prisciila of Boston Platinum gown last December and it originally came with this crazy beaded bolero that really knocked it out of the park with timeless glamour:
BUT being that I bought the sample at a deep discounted close-out sale, the bolero was no where to be found but seeing as I’ll be having a late summer wedding in Sept and it will still be warm here in So Cal, I bought it anyway and thought I’d have a great time adding detail…
Nowww, I get dress regret every now and again because a) accessories are A LOT more money than I thought they’d be && b) there is an internal battle inside me of wanting to be both glamorous and high fashion but still timeless and elegant… I want to make a gorgeous statement but not go over the top!
Here’s just the gown on me:
I am not a plain person and LOVE to make statements and have detailed or bright clothing that has lovely features so this dress has been both my best friend and worst enemy.
It is made of amazing duchess silk, has crystal buttons all the way down the back and two adorable little bows retailing for over $4400 so it is something I would have never been able to afford had I bought it off the rack SO I love the deal I got (also my late grandmother’s dress was POB so that makes me feel even more special!) and want to wear it and show everyone how awesome I look in this couture gown BUT its sooo plain in the front that I’m freaking out a little about photos because obviously I’ll be photographed MOST from the front & even more attention placed from the waist up!
So accessory shopping I go… on a tight budget!
I’ve found the blingiest belt from a demetrios sample dress I bought on ebay for $170 and will attach it to my own as soon as I clean my dress (another HUGE issue – want to DIY, haven’t gotten the guts to try yet… eeek!). Here it is on my dress:
Here I have it on with a veil I had lying around from a different dress purchase… Its white (not ivory, like my dress) so it isn’t THE ONE but what kind of veil would you recommend?
Also here’s the back of the gown (please excuse the missing button and untacked bow – I am fully aware and all will be tidied up by the wedding day, just wanted to show the crystal belt going all the way around – its a little big but its by far, MY FAVORITE FEATURE! Neverending bling! Yippeee!)
Here’s a pic of me with a black 3″ sash and a gold statement necklace I have (just playing around) but I kinda love how striking the look is~ just don’t think the gold necklace with the silver belt works…
These are my shoes:
and I am dying my crinoline navy blue as soon as the dye gets to my house (purchased on ebay!) should hopefully get it near this color because our wedding colors are Navy Blue, Gold & White *Nautical wedding!*
and I have been working on a brooch bouquet of silvers and touches of gold for a while now (also a way to include my female relatives and be my something old/new/borrowed).
Here are a few work in progress pix:
SO yeah what should I do?!
I don’t want to OVER DO but I definitely need to complete my ensamble!
What kind of veil?
I was thinking of having hair up for the ceremony and all and then have it come down half way for the recption (because I wont be wearing a veil and I have long hair that my Fiance loves and it could be really romantic in long curls!)
Veil for wedding ceremony & pix and then Statement necklace for the reception?
dangling earrings for both or just when wearing the veil?
I still think without my bouquet and veil there is only a belt going on in the front and I NEED MORE to WOW myself and my guests! I want to look and feel like a million bucks!
PS Our wedding is a formal evening affair on a yacht in September so I’d prefer my look to be glamorous and chic and timeless and elegant but also something noteworthy!
