Fiance and I went for our tasting, and were able to try a few different options with the caterer… we LOVE the food we selected, however, one of my co-workers said it might be too “upper class”. Fiance and I LOVE food, and both really enjoy cooking. So, I need your opinion, as a guest, how would you feel about this menu?
¨ Individually plated ceasar salad with an assortment of foccacio
¨ Platter of grilled vegetables, rice salad a la marinara, proscuitto , grilled radiccio, marinated mushrooms, sun dried black olives, polenta con fungi, Italian sausage, sautéed artichokes, debrazinni sausage
¨ Plattered Caprese Salad
¨ Pruscuitto wrapped chicken stuffed with caramelized apples, mushrooms and fresh thyme, finished with a Canadian Club Dijon jus.
¨ Roasted corn potatoe cakes
¨ Seasonal vegetables
¨ Pumpkin and brown sugar crème brulée with maple swirl
¨ Wedding Cake
¨ Tea and Coffee

That sounds amazing!!! It sounds elegant but not over the top hoighty-toighty! If you guys love it, go for it! I’d be a really happy guest with that menu!

I’m kind of a foodie too, but I think that all sounds delicious. I think your descriptions make it sound a bit fancier than it really is (polenta con fungi = polenta with mushrooms).
I think the menu also sounds really unique. Your guests have probably never had gourmet food like that before, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It’s not like you’re serving them escargot and ostrich.

It doesn’t sound too upper class at all! It sounds delicious, for sure, but potato cakes? How are those upper class? I love it… sounds wonderful to me!

It sounds awesome!! maybe try the english version of all the plates so it doesn’t sound so fancy? I would definitely want to eat at your wedding!

I think your guests will love your choices and I don’t think it is too upper class at all. Your coworker may just think that way because of the names of the food, but if you break it down for her into nonfancy names, she will probably change her mind.
My Fiance and I and our families are also foodies, so I say go for it.

AHHHH!!!!!!!!!! CAN I COME!!!!!!!!!!!? : )

Your menu sounds delicious!! I, too, would want to eat at your wedding 🙂 I agree with the others, maybe simplifying the menu description would help so that guests don’t feel intimidated by the food. Polenta con Fungi might get some weird looks…

Sounds great! What are you giving your vegetarians as an entree?

We are still deciding on the vegan entree… Fiance has 5 vegan family members so they are going to help us pick something! 🙂

it all sounds really good and the only way it could be over the top is if your wedding was outdoors or more laid back and casual. if you’re doing this in like a ball room etc it will blow them away it all sounds so good..can i score an invite just for the food 😀

Umm….sounds amazing? Unless your co-worker was a trusted friend, can I also say I think her comment was a little rude? If you and your Fiance are foodies then a menu like this should come as no surprise. If you are really concerned, I agree with other posts above that you can play with the wording – we were told to ask ourselves if people could recognize the food from the description.
