@cardcandy:  Thanks for this!

I’m a real photoshop novice – for invites like this: http://www.cardcandy.com/shop/view/113

How much is actual drawing, how much is using preset shapes and brushes? And could you recommend any good resources for those?

Also, I sometimes have trouble with my text looking too ‘stuck on’ compared to the background, either due to the colour or the lines being too bold I’m not sure. Do you have any tips for ensuring the image is cohesive and flows?

I would like to incorporate some hand lettering in my wedding DIY projects. Basically, I would like to know how to create a almost PERFECT vector after scanning in an image in Illustrator. At the moment, I scan in the image, use live trace and then have to move ever misplaced point along the vector. Live trace sometimes distorts the image. Is there an easier way? Or alternative method?

@mrschmura:  I think you may have to trace with the pen tool to get almost perfect. If there is an easier way, IDK what it is.  You  may be able to mess with the live trace settings a bit to get it closer.

@cardcandy:  That’s great, thank you so much! What sort of image size and dpi would you recommend working with in Illustrator? I’ve never used it before!
