You won’t know anything until you try on dresses. Be open to anything, regardless of what it looks like on the hanger. Don’t take dress guide info as gospel. What looks great on some body types does not look good on others, regardless of what magazines say to the contrary that all petites (vertically challenged, not slender) look good in one style and all look bad in others, since that is not true at all.

Since you are in a time crunch (bridal salons take several months for a dress to come in after it;s ordered, not including the time needed for alterations), take a look at the special occasion section at local dept stores.

As the pp said, when you go dress shopping (you really DO need to go soon!) be open to anything.. you never know how things look until you try them on.  Also, be up front with the store/salon and see if they are willing to sell you one of the samples, because honestly at this point you probably don’t have time to order a dress.

You can also do some research and see if there is a consignment shop in your area that sells pre-owned wedding dresses.  Or, there are online sites (preownedweddingdress.com and recycledbride.com) that sell pre-owned dresses, but you won’t be able to try them on first (unless you find the same style in a store).  Good luck and get shopping!!  🙂
