Hi bees ok so I need some major help and advice. So far my FH and I have planned some of the wedding. We put the deposit down on the venue, chose the church but haven’t paid any fees, I have ordered my dress n Maid/Matron of Honor has ordered hers, which I wouldn’t change either of these. Other than that I am still interviewing vendors and such but haven’t made any final decisions. That being said my original vision for my wedding was a church and then venue following. However after talking with my FH several times we are really bummed and wish we would have done a Destination Wedding. The more I think about it the more I want this. My maids are giving me somewhat of a hard time and most of the ppl we would invite and pay for we barely talk to (mostly his family, but some of mine as well and some friends that we aren’t really that close to). My question is do you think there is a way to fix this and change things so that our real dream can become a reality?? I started researching online BUT I honestly have no idea what I am doing. Please if you could help or give any advice I would really appreciate it, thanks 🙂 oh and the wedding is the beginning of Sept. 2010.

It’s not too late to have a Destination Wedding. If you’ve only put down a deposit for a venue, you’ll really only be losing money on that.
But I do want to know what’s your reason for wanting a DW? If you’ve envisioned a church and reception at a venue, what’s making you change your mind now? That’s not to say you can’t have that vision for a Destination Wedding but did you and Fiance discuss what type of Destination Wedding you would like (at the beach, mountains, another state)?

I say go for it! What type of location were you looking for? Is price one of your deciding factors? If you are looking for just relaxing on the beach with some drinks I would suggest looking at the USVI. My sister was married on St Thomas and loved it.
If you are looking from something with a mix of laying out at the beach and adventure I would suggest the Riviera Maya or the Dominican Republic. (BTW these are the two least expensive locations to have a wedding.) We love the Riviera Maya!
Tell us some of what your looking for and I bet we can help you find an awesome spot. I spent close to 6 months research locations. 😉

Go for the Destination Wedding, if you don’t, you’ll always wish you would have. I just invited both sides of the extended families and close friends. Many decided to join us, at their own expense.
You can still keep the venue and have a reception when you get back. That way no one is left out, and those that can’t afford to come to the wedding can celebrate with you at the reception back home.
I agree with adias.angel on something like Riviera Maya, it’s not terribly expensive, and Destination Wedding are kinda their thing there. I’m getting married in Belize in March and everyone going is super excited! It’s definitely a chance of a lifetime.
