We went wedding band shopping today and I’m having a hard time deciding between a plain or diamond band. Originally I was going to get a plain band because i love the simple and classic look but after looking at so many beautiful sets on this site I really started to like the look of solitaires with diamond bands. Now I’m having a hard time deciding. I’m posting pictures and would love to hear some other opinions 🙂

I really love the plain, it makes your e-ring shine!

I really love the look of the diamond band with it. I tend to like the look of an unadorned ring with an adorned one. In your case, the solitaire has a solid band, and is aesthetically highlighted with the diamond ring beside it. If your e-ring was super blingy, a plainer band would pair better with it.
Just my opinion though!

I like the diamond band with your solitaire.

Have you tried a plain band the same thickness as your ering?

Of the two you showed, I like the diamond band better only because it’s a more similar width to the band of your e-ring. I personally prefer a simple, plain band. The simplicity of your e-ring makes it match lots of different wedding bands.

love the diamond band with your ering. If you’re going for a plain band, maybe consider a thinner band or one with a design like a twisted band, that would look nice.

UK-bee: no I didn’t try on something the same thickness but now after looking at the picture again I think maybe I should.
I might have to go try on a few more plain bands just to see if a thinner band would look better before I make my decision. Right now I’m leaning more towards the diamond band but I think a thinner band might look good

StellaBride21: yeah try it. I think it might look very neat, delicate and elegant. And they’d be plenty of room for extra bling when you want it at a later date on the other side in the form of an eternity channel set or a 5 or 7 stone diamond band.

Both are gorgeous on your hand, but gosh, I’m a sucker for plain bands as everyday wedding bands, and the plain one really lets your solitaire diamond be the star of the show. Plain bands never need to have stones replaced or tightened, they never need significant cleaning, and they get such a gorgeous patina over years of wear. I wore a channel set band for about fifteen years, and I swear the band of gold closest to my e-ring was thinner from rubbing against the gold of the e-ring. It was probably all in my head, but it drove me nuts! I now have a plain band with my solitaire, and I never remove it. I’m also approaching my mid-40s and am drawn to a simpler aesthetic than I was when I was younger, so this might have a lot to do with it. I like to look put together but at the lowest stress level possible. 😀
I don’t worry for a second about my plain band getting damaged, cloudy, or dirty. It is so incredibly comfortable and understated. I feel like I’ve offered this opinion too many times lately and am probably annoying people, but there is something so tremendously classy and romantic about a plain wedding band. It is all I will ever wear for the rest of my life.
