For the longest time, my partner and I have had our eyes on a particular bridal set from a well known jeweller, but considering that retails around $3900 it’s a bit unatainable for us right now.
But today I was having a look through Etsy and saw some beautiful rings and it just clicked that I don’t need anything too crazy bling-y or expensive for us to get engaged. And honestly I think that has been a major factor in why my boyfriend hasn’t proposed yet. He isn’t the best with money management and from what he’s told me he doesn’t really know how to go about it all. We don’t really know much about diamonds, types of gold, clarity or any of that stuff so it’s not the most important thing for us to have, just as long as it’s fairly long lasting (and not plastic!).
Just wanted to see if anyone else has experience with getting engagement/wedding rings from Etsy and maybe some photos if you have any?
Thankyou in advance!

I originally had one from a really popular Etsy seller but I personally wasn’t happy with it – there was a hairline crack in the stone and I’m fairly certain the band was plated because it was a really uneven texture. No one would have noticed either of those things and everyone said it was really pretty, but for me I knew they were there. Instead we bought a 60s preowned ring locally which is really sparkly and a great price!

Some ETSY sellers are amazing and some are making poor quality goods. Just like the brick and mortar world. If you post the specific seller, you may get better feedback.

I agree! For a huge purchase like an engagement ring, I would want to make sure the store had lots of legitimate, positive reviews.

I have an Etsy engagement ring! Etsy was the way to go for us, because of style and affordability. We went through Benati, and our experience was phenomenal. I loved his work so much that we went back for my wedding band! I would say to look for a shop with good reviews, and also to just communicate with any potential sellers as to what you’re looking for! (The guy we dealt with went so far as to send us pictures of the materials for approval, and then continued to send us pictures of the process!)
This is mine:

Lovely. Which seller did you use?

Yep, my engagement ring (and wedding bands, and stacking bands) are all from Etsy! Many posters on this form have Etsy rings. If you let us know which seller(s) you’re looking at, I’m sure some bees will be able to chime in about specific experiences. The most important thing right off the bat is to look at number of quality of reviews (e.g., I wouldn’t make a huge purchase from a seller with 6 reviews).
And since you asked 😉 My e-ring and the matching band are from Etsy seller RareEarth.

I will probably get my engagement + wedding band from etsy. I would not even consider a seller with less than 100 reviews and 500 sales (thankfully both shops I am looking at have way more than that). I also looked at sites like here on the Bee to see what people had to say about the sellers. I think as long as we are very careful, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Your rings are absolutely stunning!
I honestly haven’t had a super in depth look yet, I wanted to get people’s opinions before getting my hopes up, but the sellers I’ve looked at so far are Zhedora & TigerGemStones 🙂

I love mine! I was skeptical about it as well, but I took a chance and ordered a morganite. I’m very happy with it (although it gets dirty very easy) and I used to worry that it wasn’t as sturdy as chain jewlery store rings, but that isnt the case anymore! I definitely recommend Etsy and diamond alternatives if you’re on the fence.

I have only ever bought from one seller on Etsy – Gagik – and will only ever buy from him. His shop is called MasterJeweler and he is the best in terms of quality, price and customer service. I don’t know about the other sellers recommended on here, but I messaged many Etsy sellers when requesting a price quote on an anniversary band and he was the only one to answer me right away and keep in touch with me constantly and his prices are always the lowest. He also does an appraisal for the piece he makes you for insurance purposes and it always insures for wayyy more than he charges you. He does whatever you want, custom or you can order a design he already has on his shop. Everything is made to order, meaning he doesn’t just keep a stock and ship it so it’s personally made just for you. He’s going to be working on another piece for me soon and also will be doing my sisters new wedding ring upgrade and an engagement ring for my brother. I recommend him to everyone that I can. You can look up his shop and if you google “emasterjeweler instagram” you can look at some of the videos that he took of the stuff he’s made.

I got my diamond wedding ring from masterjeweler too 🙂 even with tax and shipping to England was half the price of the ones in shops here. I could afford my dream ring 😍 Can’t wait to wear it!
