Hey Bees…so in an attempt to save some $$ I am going to do my own wedding make-up, however my day-to-day makeup just won’t cut it. It doesn’t last all day long and by the end of the work day it has all but disapeared. Of course I don’t want this on my wedding day!!
Do you girls have ANY suggestions on good foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow etc that will last the test of time??
I cannot recommend enough using some sort of eyeshadow primer or ‘shadow magnet’. I bought some of this from a make-up place near me, and not only does the shadow show up better, it stays longer, and I have to use less of it to get some colour.
For those in Ontario, the Caryl Baker Visage eyeshadow magnet is FANTASTIC. It’s expensive (I have a membership and I think it was $17), but a little goes a long way, so it lasts forever!
@ktgee04:I am a fan of Mac foundation! They have a lot of shades and you can try it on at their stores before you buy it. It’s about $34. They’re eyeliner pen is $16 and it’s really clear and bold and last a long time without crusting up. I’ve heard a lot of good thinks about they’re eyeshadows too. Their primer sucks though. Primer for the face and the eyes is important.
everything the othee bees have said is good advice.
And I SWEAR by Urban Decay EYE PRIMER!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!!! Seriously it is like Crack I love it that much. Eye makeup wont move and stays put!! There shadows are awesome too!! Worth the money to invest it better products!
@MissHobbit Monistat Chaffing Gel is the EXACT same ingrediant make-up and it’s 7 bucks at the drugstore! And I can’t tell the difference between it and the smashbox for how it feels and how long it lasts 😉
If you’re planning to buy new products, I would suggest making an appointment at Sephora to get your make-up done. When I was there, they told me they do make-up by appointment and you are required to spend $50 in store. I love their HD foundation which I found when looking for wedding make-up and it stayed all night.
I echo the sentiment that smashbox has the superior face makeup. I’d go with Mac (or Bare Minerals if you want any kind of mineral makeup), Mac is best for eyeshadows, and I don’t have a superhuge favorite on mascaras except make sure to get something waterproof.
