My first suggestion would be a good makeup primer. That will make your makeup stay put all day and it will make even crummy products go on smoother and last longer.

These should help a lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jha0mEmvznE

Really, if you type “bridal makeup” into youtube you’ll get videos of varying quality. Those are the best I’ve found. Hope it helps.

I cannot recommend enough using some sort of eyeshadow primer or ‘shadow magnet’.  I bought some of this from a make-up place near me, and not only does the shadow show up better, it stays longer, and I have to use less of it to get some colour.

For those in Ontario, the Caryl Baker Visage eyeshadow magnet is FANTASTIC.  It’s expensive (I have a membership and I think it was $17), but a little goes a long way, so it lasts forever!

@ktgee04:I am a fan of Mac foundation! They have a lot of shades and you can try it on at their stores before you buy it. It’s about $34. They’re eyeliner pen is $16 and it’s really clear and bold and last a long time without crusting up. I’ve heard a lot of good thinks about they’re eyeshadows too. Their primer sucks though. Primer for the face and the eyes is important.

Here’s a thread covering the same topic

I use

Monistat Chaffing Gel for my primer (it’s the same ingredients as pricey primers)

Smashbox High Def foundation (it covers but itsn’t heavy feeling)

“” Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder

“” Concealer (<— is my favorite concealer that I’ve tried)

Bare Minerals Warmth

and I’m adding Stila convertible color (lillium) for my cheeks as well

For the Smashbox I would suggest getting their starter kit (50bucks) which has all 3 of the products I use

My makeup stays really well, even through my sunday naps, and it doesn’t feel all caked on.

Follow the link for the blog posting on application! I following it daily now and love it!

@ktgee04: Smashbox has the best face primer but it’s expensive.

@MissHobbit Monistat Chaffing Gel is the EXACT same ingrediant make-up and it’s 7 bucks at the drugstore! And I can’t tell the difference between it and the smashbox for how it feels and how long it lasts 😉

@runsyellowlites:THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I knew that there was a product like that that existed but not what it was. My google searches turned up fruitless. I love the bee.

If you’re planning to buy new products, I would suggest making an appointment at Sephora to get your make-up done. When I was there, they told me they do make-up by appointment and you are required to spend $50 in store. I love their HD foundation which I found when looking for wedding make-up and it stayed all night.

I echo the sentiment that smashbox has the superior face makeup. I’d go with Mac (or Bare Minerals if you want any kind of mineral makeup), Mac is best for eyeshadows, and I don’t have a superhuge favorite on mascaras except make sure to get something waterproof.
