We took advatadge of vista prints “free business cards” and desinger a little note about the charity we chose, their website for the whole in lieu of favors thing on it.

We placed them by the guest book and a few randomly around. Honestly, nobody really noticed that there were no favors!

We’re doing in leiu of cards at the place setting. But they are in the shape of bookmarks on linen paper! Our dog is a rescue so we are donating to two local animal shelters.

Below is the photo of one of them. I’m not sure how we will tuck them into the napkins.

I saw photos of a wedding that did something like this. They put little papers explaining on each table next to their centerpieces. I think it was 2-3 per table, so everyone could see, and with a triangle fold so it was upright.

We did ours on the tables, along with their place card and token charity gift.

So sorry about your father. It’s a lovely homage however you chose to announce it. I voted for the note at each table, and like the invitation to the candy bar.

I’m doing the same thing (or at least planning on it at this point) since my father also passed away from cancer. I’m planning on donating to Livestrong and they give the bracelets with a note saying that we donated to them. But i don’t know yet if I’m putting them on each place setting or on a separate table and then making an announcement. I’ll have to see how it pans out. But in your case I think putting a note on the candy label at each place setting is just fine 🙂

I’m going back and forth with this also.  We decided to make a donation to the animal rescue where we adopted our dog as well and we are not doing a candy bar, so really, there is no favor for attending the wedding.  I dont think anybody will miss it, to me they’re usually a waste of money and half the time they end up being thrown away because they’re left on the table anyway.  We were debating making a large sign by the guestbook table (FI wants to include a picture of our dog, but i don’t)…… and I thought it would be nice to print out a little slip (about the size of a directions card in an invitation (a little smaller than 4×6) and include a thank you note to guests for sharing in this special day with us and then putting the “in lieu of favors, we have made a donation to blah blah blah…..” I thought we could even use the little monogram image I created for our programs to put on top of the card.  I don’t know – the wedding is next saturday and my mind is just a big jumble right now!

I’ve heard of lots of brides using mini moo cards for things like that.

@GretaCT:  I LOVE your charity cards. The design is super cute. I just may steal it for my charity “favors”. 🙂

@lilbluebird:  You ahead and steal the design! I modified it from this that I found on the knot: I like it because even though people might not take it home and actually use it at a bookmark, it’s still kind of a “favor”
