I immediately thought of a Dere Kiang dress from last season (which unfortunately is no longer on their site):

Without that giant flower, it would be pretty close.  I don’t know the style name, but maybe run it through tineye and then call some stores to see if they have it (or any other pont d’esprit gowns).

Edit: I found the style number!  It is 11084.

You should be able to get something like that custom made for quite a bit less. I’m getting a mermaid lace gown with scattered appliques done for $1600 so I’m sure it would be less for something simple like that 🙂 Look into local dressmakers. It’s nice to buy local and then that way you know your dress wasn’t made by underpaid sweat-shop workers (which, unfortunately, most wedding dresses are).

I’m not sure what size you wear but there are 4 of those dresses listed on ebay right now. 2 for $1500 and 2  for $1900. It’s worth keeping an eye out on ebay or search the sites that do an all of craigslist search.

Look at the offshore (China) replica Dress Websites… in particular Jasmine’s Bridal and Dressilyme have excellent reputations here on WBee… you can use the WBee SEARCH feature to find more info / topics (and pics) posted by Bees

Many have full disclosure stories (the journey from start to finish) from Bees who went this route.

And the savings can be phenominal… 50% to 90% difference from the Designer Originals.

Hope this helps,

@futuregattman:  If you haven’t bought a dress yet, JCrew has that dress on sale for 50% off right now! 🙂 But only in a size 10 :/
