I did not get married at that particular resort, but I did have my previous wedding at a resort in Jamaica and we used the photographer and I thought they were fantastic.

I also have been to plenty of all-inclusive resorts (Was at the Sandals Royal Carribean a year ago).  Their *photographers* are always around snapping pictures and are FABULOUS.  Very professional and you get great shots at the end of your trip – and those are just candid shots.  So, I would imagine that dedicated work would be good as well.

Remember that their business is weddings.  So, their photographer would HAVE to be good.  You should be able to request samples from the resort.

I would definitely use their photographer rather than try to hire one locally.  They will already be familiar with the venue.

Good Luck.

My friend got married at the Grand Lido in Negril and she flew a photographer out with her (and the photog did it for dirt cheap – $1000 – plus hotel and airfare).

i looked up and contacted a bunch of photographers when i was planning my wedding in Jamaica.  by stroke of luck i ended up getting my first choice American photographer so i never booked one of the local ones….but if i had, i would have went with Chris Clare from zuluspro http://www.zulusproweddings.com/

I also initially began my search with this site:

Merrick Cousley also has lots of good reviews i know, althoguh he was out my budget.

I am getting married in Montego Bay and am using a local photographer, IM sure they travel to Negril…. their website is wpajamaica.com. There are quite a few photographers you can choose from, we chose CLayton because his work was awesome and the style we wanted and they are pretty reasonably priced ($2100) and we made our own customized package with everything we need. I chose them based on a reccomendation from another 2 brides on here so they must be good! AND I dont know how dealing with people on “Island Time” has been for you but I find most of them very slow to reply but WPA got back to be soooo quick! THey have been great

Be careful you don’t use a well-known Jamaican photographer.  I was going to get married at Sandals or Beaches Negril (but changed to another venue in Negril), and they don’t allow outside photographers unless you pay for at least 3 nights.  I read on bestdestinationwedding and a few other places that they will not allow some of the more well-known Jamaican photographers, since a) they are not guests and b) they don’t allow outside photographers.  Just an FYI so you don’t end up paying a deposit just to have them kicked out!

I know this is late but i am also getting married in Negril and these are the photographers i looked into:

1. Saab photography
2. Sun gold photography
3. Merrick Cousley
4. Stacey Clarke
5. Misha Earle

I found them all to be around the same price-wise (ie expensive!) but in the end i believe i will go with Saab photography and get their associate photographer for 3 hours.

@Sheesh19:  What venue did you end up going with? We are thinking of Negril as our destination choice.

@BoxerLady:  A good venue to consider is Riu Negril. You can check out Nicole Brown Photography. She photographs there and her style is really creative and fun. Website- http://www.nicolecbrownphotography.com. Plus Riu has a very low vendor fee for photographers.
