Does anyone know where to find a flower girl dress in a larger size? My flower girl is 9 but has the body of a 12 yr old or so, and we cannot find a dress to fit her! It seems that most companies only go to a size 14, and we need something in a 16 or 18 (Alfred Angelo has a 16 but the measurements are smaller than most other 14s). Jr. Bridesmaids dresses are smaller than FGs (weird, huh?), and we don’t want to put a 9 yr old in a bridesmaid’s dress. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as I’m running out of time to order… Thanks!!

Do you have a picture of the style you are looking for? Also, her measurements would be helpful.

Her chest is 33.5″ and her waist (at the widest part) is 34.” I’m looking for something cute but not too childish, and in a light aqua color. Something like this would be great, but I’m certainly flexible on the style, as I’m getting a little desperate at this point…

Are you sure her waist is 34″? The waist is measured just above the belly button; usually. The best way to find the waist is to have the person bend to the side and then measure where the bend is. I will keep a look out for you, but I am thinking that separates might be the way to go. You can get separates that blend very well together and look like one piece. Send me a PM as a reminder. I am very busy this next week and will probably get sidetracked, but I will look for you. You may have to have something custom made.
EDIT: Oh, and how tall is she?

i would check out this site, it says it only goes up to 14 but you can actually order with specific measurements. you could even look in the junior bm section and they are pretty reasonably priced….we bought our bm dresses here.

Did you try Macys? They have beautiful dresses there for girls.

What about doing a search for a junior bridesmaid dress in white, or whichever color you prefer. I did a google search and a lot came up that would probably fit her!

i had the same problem. we chose a bari jay jr bridesmaid dress to match my bridesmaid dresses., it fit her really well but was a little on the short end.

Sears offers girls plus clothes, as it gets closer to Easter, you may be able to find something off the rack. A look online shows that they have a few Christmas style and even some white first communion dresses that would work if you wanted white. This one http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00000000000000004052000000000000000SP947P?prdNo=13&blockNo=13&blockType=G13 has a 16, 18 and 20 option so sizing should not be a problem and the styles are much more age appropriate.

I would look for dresses that aren’t icalledi flower girl dresses, but that would work. Like, a girl’s formal dress. Or whatever. I would recommend that for all flower girl dresses – then you don’t get the ridiculous wedding upcharge. We got ours at J. Crew for $50.

How about a junior brides maid dress. Forever Yours has lots of Juniors dresses. Or Alexia Designs or Alfred Angelo.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions, I REALLY appreciate it!! My FG’s waist is 31″ at the smallest part but is 34″ at her belly button. She is about 5’3″ or 5’4″ tall. I’ve looked at both flower girl and junior bridesmaids sizes for all the major bridal companies I could find (Alexia Designs, Alfred Angelo, Bari Jay, Bill Levkoff, DaVinci, Dessy Group, Eden Bridals, Forever Yours, Jordan, Mori Lee, and Venus) and none of the sizes fit. =(
I appreicate the Sears suggestions, but I’m really trying to avoid white (I wouldn’t mind so much if she were smaller/younger, but I think it would look weird since she’s up to my shoulders).
@totheislnds, did you have any trouble ordering from that site? And how was the quality? I’ve looked at a few similar sites, but I’ve been sort of leery of them…
Again, thanks everyone!! And if there are any more suggestions you guys might have, keep ’em coming!! =)

I thought I’d update this in case anyone runs into the same problem in the future…
We had our girl re-measured (her grandma took the first measurements and they were a little off, which I had suspected) and she fit into the Eden Bridals Flowergirl dress perfectly (the one pictured). So if anyone else has a similar issue, check them out- even though other companies have bigger sizes in terms of numbers (i.e. they go up to a 16), Eden Bridals actually has the largest sizes if you look at the measurements (out of the companies I listed in my last post). And make sure to have your girl’s measurements taken professionally! =D
