Hey ladies! I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a Christmas gift. I’m 18 weeks pregnant and Darling Husband is starting to really get into the daddy mood. He is so excited for the baby and he talks about him/her constantly. Last weekend Darling Husband took me out shopping for books to read to the baby (before it’s born and after lol) and I found a lot of really sweet books that made me tear up. Unfortunately most of them only seem to talk about “mommy.” I could tell Darling Husband was kind of disappointed. We found a couple of books that mentioned “daddy” but they were kind of lame.
Any moms or moms-to-be know of any good books that mention daddies? I think my husband would really be delighted if he opened up a book on Christmas morning that he could read to the baby.

I don’t know of any books specifically, but what we did when I found out I was pregnant was go out and each of us bought a book that we liked as a child. He bought Where the Wild Things Are and has read it to her a few times. I bought Le Petit Prince and read it to her at bedtime often 🙂

@swanks4tw: My Future Sister-In-Law has for her son…
Daddy Hugs (Classic Board Books) by Katz, Karen and
My Daddy and Me by Tina Macnaughton.
I have also heard very mixed reviews about Daddies Do It Different by Alan Lawerence, FI’s cousin found it horribley offensive and thought it did not portray men in a good light – he really thought this book would tell his daughter “Daddy is an idiot” but others find it funny and gave it overall good reviews…

How about buying him a book called “Nightime stories” I think that’s what it’s called. A book that he can read nightime stories to the child at bedtime. It might even be called bedtime stories. my XDH never really read “soon to be daddy” books, eventhough he was excited to be a dad and all.

@Ms_Purple: Those look perfect! And the “Daddy Hugs” one also led me to “Daddy Kisses” and “Daddy Cuddles” so score! Lol and the “Daddies do it differently” looks funny.
@rickhurst35: I love books like that. Darling Husband wasn’t read to much as a child, but my mom and dad used to read us stories every night. As we got older it turned into reading chapter books every night and going through whole series’ of books. It’s definitely something Darling Husband and I want to do with our kids!
