@sloth: Seriously no one wants to shop there after the age of like 18, but I love American Eagle jeans!  And I think (from what you’re describing) we might have similar body shapes…I have 0 butt.  My Maid/Matron of Honor keeps joking that he’s going to buy me “booty pop panties” (yeah, like a padded bra, only for your butt).

I have a similar body type (and on top of that, a 36″ inseam!).  I like Gap long and lean (especially the ones with stretch) because they are strait in the waist and hips, and leaner in the leg.  They do have a big flare though, so it will depend if you like that.  I also like old navy’s “flirt” cut.  They are not too low or high cut.  I find that they flatter my legs (especially in a dark wash) and take away from my thick waist.

Good luck, shopping for jeans is THE WORST!

Big Star and Banana Republic jeans work for me–i’ve always had the same problem with pants. I’d buy the size that fit the waist and they’d be huge everywhere else. I went through nearly every pair of pants at Buckle before deciding on Big Star jeans. Then i had to order them in an extra long length :P. I find that Banana jeans look a tad frumpier, but they’re good for work

That is my body.  I also like long and lean, though sadly I’m in between sizes right now.  I honestly have THE HARDEST time finding a pair of jeans that actually fits becuase of my stupid mid section.

If you’re at a size you think you’ll stay at for a while it might be worth it to get some custom tailoring. Find whichever jeans fit you best and fit your largest area, and then go to a tailor to get the rest of the jeans taken in. It isn’t *that* expensive and well-fitting jeans are always flattering.

@sloth: The favorite boyfriend cut jean from there is the BEST!  They stretch over time though, so when you initially try them on they should be snug.  I just bought 3 new pair since I’m at my goal weight!

A good friend of mine often has the same problem, and now she’s obsessed with Joe’s jeans. I don’t remember the style name right now (it may start with a P), but you can usually find them at Nordstrom.
